| Getting First Yorkie Puppy Soon... Hello. New to the forums and to this breed. I just recently had to put down my pitbull due to old age. It took a while but I am ready for a new puppy. We also moved to a new neighborhood and dont have a large yard so I decided to get a small dog and who could resist a yorkie? So I bought a 3 week old yorkie and I go pick him up on June 22nd. Its a long drive. Any suggestions on how to make his ride less stressful? Thanks in advance. |

| the breeder told me i could leave him with the mother up to 10 weeks if i like and as ive been reading more i think i am going to. sounds like he has a lot to learn from his mother first and i want him to be less stressed when we make the trip back home. im very excited to get him here but im still doing a lot of reading and researching so this will give me more time to prepare for him. thanks for the advice

| Hi! Pardon my confusion...I've been on vacation all last week and my brain is still rebelling at having to function again Am I reading your post correct? You will be getting your puppy at 3 weeks old? If so, please consider leaving him with his Momma until at least 8 weeks old, 10 or 12 is better yet. There is so much they need to learn from their Momma's and it will make your time with him better too. Can't wait to see pictures of him. Do you have any names picked out? And so sorry for the loss of your Pittie. It's tough losing them wether it's to old age or an illness.

| Thanks for the warm welcomes. And no I would never take a puppy at 3 weeks old. Thats how old he is right now. I guess im going to get him at a later date than i originally thought so he can stay with mommy a while longer. Been trying to think of a few names but I think I need to get to know his personality first.

| Welcome to YT, and congratulations on your new baby!! I think you're right to wait before naming him. I used to try to name mine right away, but then it never seemed to fit their personality and I'd change it. Now I wait until we get to know each other a little bit.
