| Neutering questions Little Joey is 6 months old today. My vet told me to wait unti 7 months to get him neutered...he is 5 lbs. I just found out that i will have to leave him overnight at the Vet's office when he gets neutered...nooo!! Joey was stepped on at 12 weeks old (many of you may remember the story), so I am trying to hold off on any surgery because he's been through so much at such a young age. When should I get him neutered...have any dogs died from getting neutered?!?! I am just always so worried about my little guy...I don't want anything to happen to him...I just don't think I can deal with the emotions again |

I Love Thor Donating Member | I believe that six months is about the right time to do it. Since your little guy has had a trama, I'm not sure what age is good for him. I'm not positive, but if he isn't marking or being territorial you can wait for a couple more months and it won't matter, but again I'm not possitive about that. I hope someone is more informative for you. Good luck! Hannah |

| Why does he have to stay overnight? Is it the night before or the night of the surgery... I don't see a need for the overnight stay afterwards... nobody is usually there (unless you have a 24 hour place).

| Dublin just came home yesterday. He was tired last night, but was up bright and early this morning ready to play!! Actually I was glad they kept him overnight (I've never had to leave one of my babies overnight before for neuter/spay.) because I knew they would be able to control the squirmy little booger better than I could! Try not to worry. As surgeries go, this one is not too bad. It's just a tiny little incision, and the stitches are inside and will disolve. Dub is 6 months, and I kind of wish that I had waited a little longer. I thought he just had 2 canine baby teeth that needed pulling, and they ended up finding more in the back and pulled a total of 8 teeth!!! My poor baby!!

| I dont understand why he should have to stay overnight when no ones there anyway. Both of mine came home that night. My female was a little out of it but at least I could comfort her.

I think he probably was better off, too because my other dogs would have gotten him too excited. It was a hard night without him, though!
