I have a morkie and he is mostly black with some tan on his legs and mouth. he does have a brown spot above his butt. he is more maltese than yorkie but he has some yorkie coloring. also his fur is definitely maltese as well.

| Hi, I am new to this website. I am purchasing a morkie for my fiance, and the female that I have chosen is Black and gold/brown. The other pups in the litter are all black. I believe there may be a white streak on one or two of them. Is it normal for Morkies to be solid black? If not, what does this mean? Is this the result of the morkie not having purebred maltese and yorkie? Or is it normal to have solid color morkies? The puppies are also not going to be AKC registered. Is this something I should be concerned about. Possibly the puppies not purebred? I would greatly appreciate any input and help to my question. Sorry for posting this on your post. You guys were talking about morkies. Figured it wouldn't hurt. Thank you! |

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Mixed breed dogs are not allowed to be registered by the AKC, it's a pure-bred registry. As for the coloring, it's going to be impossible to tell you what the adult dog will look like, as mixes can look like either parent or anything (and everything) in between.

Thank you very much for your input and information. After asking this question, I actually googled it and learned this. Also several other kind folks informed me as well. Thanks for taking the time to help. Aaron

!!!!To the OP: I have no idea about coat colors in Morkies, but they are adorable, anyway I would choose the puppy from their personality, at any rate, but that's me. Good luck!!!!

| Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am also a new mom to a 12 week old Morkie ( Bentley) I was also wondering about fur color change. I have had him for 2 weeks and already the top of his head has gone gone from jet black with a silver under tone to being brown with a silver under tone. The rest of his body has not changed in color. his body is black and his paws are tan with black streaks and white tips. His chest and under his chin is white.. he is so cute only weighs 2lbs |

| It is hard to say with a puppy. Even purebred Yorkies go through color changes as they mature. My Shih Tzu was black and brown and white as a puppy and ended up white with a little gold on the ears when he grew up. Look at the roots of the puppy's fur. If you see a lighter shade at the roots there is a good chance that as the puppy's fur grows out the color is going to lighten. |
