| female question My youngest female Daisy, turned a year old in april. However she has yet to come into heat for her first time. Is this common? I have no plans of letting her have puppies, But I wonder if this is normal??

My furkids Donating Member | Sadie (4yrs now) came into her first heat when she was 9 months old. Lillie (3yrs old now) didn't come in heat until she was almost 1 1/2. Sadie only had 3 heats and Lillie had only 1. I got them both spayed in Jan.

| You need to get her spayed BEFORE she goes into heat!! Every heat your dog goes through gives her a higher chance of getting cervical or uterine cancer.

| How young can they go into heat? I just got my newest one, Coco, and she will be 6 months old on June 11th. I want to get her fixed before her first heat but I just got her last week.

| I would highly advise that you spay her before she goes into heat. It will benefit her in many different ways. It also will ensure that she does not contribute to the overpopulation of dogs. As a dog owner, I refuse to be part of the problem

| I always spay all of my animals. I am not worried about an unwanted pregnancy, she is always in the house, never outside. I just like to have them fixed before there first heat, it is just what I have always done. The breeder recommended waited until she was a year old though with this one. Don't really want to wait that long.
