Bailey at the vet..he weighs 1 pound!!..

My baby Bailey was at the vet today and his breeder told me he weighed in at a whopping 1lb..he will be 7 weeks old on Sunday, so is this a good weight?..I'm kinda clueless! Thanks!!

I think if you double the weight at 8 weeks then add a pound you'll get an approximate adult weight.....I think that's how it goes? Anyway, it's a guess and never 100%.....if I'm wrong someone will correct me but if I remember correctly that's how to guess an approximate weight....

That sounds like a good weight to me! I think it's triple the weight from 8 wks or double the weight at 12 wks. LOL I can't remember, but it isn't always very accurate. Your baby is a great weight for 7 weeks old IMO

Laddy weighed 1.4 oz at 9 weeks and is now 7 months and weighs 3.4.

Never heard double 8 weeks and add a pound. I have always heard the double 12 weeks or triple 8 weeks and that has been fairly consistent with mine. There is also a puppy growth chart you can use for guesstimates: Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow

Tucker was 2.5 pounds at 10 weeks, 5 pounds at 14/16 weeks and at 8 months old he is almost 9 pounds. He came from 4 pound parents. I honestly didnt think that he would get over 5 pounds.. boy was I wrong.. lol.. Not that I mind, he is a very sturdy little guy.
He sounds like he is at a good wieght, but you can never tell how big they will actually be untill they get there..

Weight doesn't really matter as long as they are healthy,,I was afraid the 1lb was to small, but I'm happy it's considered normal!!

I took Kingston to the vet yesterday for his 12wk shots, but he's really 11wks and he weighed in at 2.8...I was so happy b'c I want him to be a 7lb boy, I am sure he will be 3lbs by the 4th and then I have always heard to double the weight at 12wks and then add a pound...It was pretty right on with my doxie boy and my Sophie was 9lbs and it was pretty close with her as well.

It must have been double the weight at 12 weeks and add a pound then...like the last post said....
