Emily had siezure 1 1/2 old at vet's now I am sitting at home on pin's & needles because I had to rush my emily to the vet this am. We were going for a walk when I decided to water my flowers. Emily sat down and waited patiently for me to finish. She isn't ever outside, except to walk. and started to dig her nose in the dirt and I scolded her. She stopped. I finally started out on our walk and instead of happily leading the way, I noticed I had to tug a little on her leash. I looked back(she's never behind me) and noticed she was standing there stiffly, eyes glazed over. She didn't respond to anything I said and then I noticed her defecating. I took her inside and noticed she was limp, heart still beating but slow. Took her to the vet and they have ran a couple of tests. Sure hope they can find out what's wrong. I hope it itsn't liver shunt. I just wanted to talk to others who might have had a similar scare. Please pray for my Emily. Linda |

Whenever reading about liver shunt, I don't remember seizures being a part of it. Anyone else? Linda, I know how scared and worried you must be, but don't think the worst. Perhaps medication can help. We'll be saying a prayer for little Emily... |
Linda, you and Emily are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted on any updates please. |
oh my perhaps she ate something had you sprayed for insects recently or weed and feed? Or hypoglycemia I hope she recovers fast...please let us know soon! |
I'm so sorry to heard about Emily. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. I know how worried you are. Just hang in there hopefully it's nothing too bad. |
This is the first seizure she has ever had? |
emily's home for the night. Thanks for all the support. We still don't know what happened today but hopefully we'll know more tomorrow. The liver shunt test will come back early am. Noticed Emily is pushing her head along the floor trying to get relief from something also trying to scratch her back on the carpet. I'm wondering if it's a reaction to something. She soon gave up ate quite well and is now sleeping. I hope she will not wake up and want to get at her IV tube that they kept in her arm. Poison Control said that the Miracle Gro and Ironite I sprayed on the yard a week and a half ago were basically unsoluble and non toxic to the rats in the studies. Emily weighs 5 lbs. I'ts possible she could have been bitten by a spider and the IV fluids flushed it out of her system. It's all guessing but hopefully tomorrow they will know something. Thanks for your responses they are a great comfort. Emilys Mom |
Yes this is the first siezure. |
It sounds like an allergic reaction to me...either the dirt, grass or maybe a bug bite. She's in my prayers...she'll probably come out fine. They are pretty hardy little babies. Good luck and keep us posted. |

I jsut noticed that you are in Clarkston. Is that GA? I'm in Snellville. It sounds like some type of allergice reaction to me as well. I'm by know means an expert. I hope that you will get the answers that you need tomorrow. Please keep us posted. |
Yes we're in Clarkston Ga. Emily came from Bethlehem from the Diaz family. |
I am praying for your little one. It's so hard when they are sick and you don't know what to do for them! Seizures are really scary. Keep us posted on how her tests come out! Puppy kisses from Indy! |

I got Mollie from a really good friend of mine she is 19 months old and she has 3 babies that are 7 weeks old. If you are interested once she gets to feeling better. There is a dog park Ronald Reagan Park I'm not sure if you know where that is or not but, it's not but about 3 miles from me. I live off of 78 not too far from you. I use to work in Tucker. I will be praying for your little one. |

I'm sorry I probably should have waited until you're little one gets to feeling much better before I ever posted the above about the park. I hope I didn't upset you. It definitely was not my intentions. |
my prayers are with you and Emily. |
I'm sure emily would love to meet molly when shes feeling better. I am signing off the websight at this time. Take care. |
I am so sorry to hear about your Emily..I hope its nothing serious. My thoughts will be with you and her :) Give us an update as soon as you know what it is. |
Hope your baby is ok ! |
Not always but most of the time liver shunt shows up by 6 months. Does she stick her nose in the dirt alot ( I know she isn't in that area alot) but was this something unusual for her?? Did you just put some sort of lawn product down.?? I will remember your little one in my prayers. This is a wonderful group of people and well help you in any way we can. Hugs and prayers. |
Im so sorry that your little Emily is sick. That i s so scary. I hope the vet finds what is wrong. I hope she gets better soon. I will have you both in my prayers. Please keep us posted. |
Hope things are better for little Emily. We will have her in our prayers! |
I hope they find out what is wrong with her. I bet you was a basket case. how scary it must have been. hugs from all of us here. |
Thanks for your concern. Unfortunatly we found out tonight at 6:30 that she does have a liver shunt. The vet is referring us to a university that specializes in shunts. We are still in shock for until yesterday our Emily was seemingly so healthy. We are scared & sad. Thanks Linda |
