Emily's mom You all have brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for your overwhelming response and helpful info. I am doing so much better after reading the forum posts. I'm very grateful. Linda |
Linda~ We are always here for you. YT is the best! |
I'm so sorry to hear about Emily having a liver shunt! I will be thinking of you and praying that all goes well with whatever avenue taken to help Emily. Bless her little heart...and yours too! Hugs and kisses from Maddie and get well wishes sent your way! |
update on Emily Emily has had another pre & post bile acid test. We were originally doing it to help us qualify for the UT funding. When we talked to her puppy doctor he informed us that she had a normal bile acid test November when she was 6 months old. He asked us to bring her in to see him with the emergency vet's info & xrays. We did and he asked us to hold off until he gets her new bile tests. He said her liver size wasn't small, she was a very heathy size and much to alert compared to other shunt yorkies. It could be a acquired shunt that has formed since Nov. We had an appt. today Wed to go to Auburn for a complete diagnostic test and possible surgury. Her original bile post was 43.9 her new test was 36.2. We'll talk to the vet today to hear if thats still significantly high enough to warrant more that an antibiotic, lactulose and a 3 week low protein highly digestible diet. Emily definitely seems more depressed lately. I see her resting more that she used to. I think she misses her routine of walking an hour every other day. We can't risk it for the glucose can drop from to much excersise. I've got to take her for a fun ride in the car for she is developing a fear of the destination. She went three times Monday to get blood drawn. Well I know this is long but as you can see I had a lot to relay. Thanks for a place to vent and be heard. Whew Linda |
Thanks for the undate on Emily! Poor baby, so much for her to have to deal with in her tiny life. Sometimes Toto acts depressed when very small things change in her life, I hope that's all it is with Emily! I'm glad that if she has to go to have further testing, that it's Auburn! Unless things have changed there, they will get to the bottom of this. We will be praying that this will be a simple thing and she will be back to her perky self in no time!! Toto sends her puppy kisses and we all hope you will get good news this time! :) |
We will keep your sweet Emily in our prayers. Phyllis and Gizmo |
Emily is still in our prayers!! Thank you for the update .....and I am glad we can all be here for each other when we need to vent!!! |
I hope Emily feels better soon. I cannot imagine your shock to hear this news. I will be getting that same test done on Mimi this Friday. Cookie has not had that test yet. Please keep us updated . (((Hugs))) to you and Emily Genie, Cookie & Mimi |
thank you for the update! |
Sammie and Gracie and I are all up here in West Virginia thinking of you two and hoping for the best. Please keep us informed. Bless you! |
Oh no poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. I will keep her in my prayers! |
Emily is lucky to have the parents she has. |
oh my goodness - Joey and I are praying for you and Emily. I was sooo scared when our little Joey was in the hospital (he was stepped on by my fiance a few days after we got him). As Joey proved, these little ones are very resilient. Puppy kisses to Emily, get better soon! |
Thanks for letting us know what is going on with little Emily. It certainly is true that they can learn where you are going...I couldn't drive down the same street I drove down to go to our vet's office with Muffin even when we went other places. She knew the route! So I would drive another way to go places with her. They are too smart! Wishing Emily all the best... :) |
How is Emily doing? I was thinking about her today! |
How terrifying! I am soooo sorry. Your little one is definitely in my thoughts are prayers. Please keep us updated on the status of your little one. |
I am so sorry you, Emily, and your family are having to go through this. My Yorkie, Tucker was diagnosed with liver shunt at 6 months, but is 1 1/2 now, and doing well. He did not have to have surgery, and is maintained in a special diet. There is hope, and I'm sure this situation will turn out for the best! I know how you are feeling, and my thought and prayers are with you!! Please keep us posted, I'm very worried about you and Emily |
I am only just reading this and I want to add my thoughts and prayers. There are differing opinions about when the bile acidsalts tests are accurate and dependable. Having the tests done on puppies under 6-12 months is of very little if any benefit as per my vet... It can sneak up on your baby and break your heart. I so hope you have better news as time goes on.. |
emily's at auburn Hi everyone, I'm in Auburn as I type Emily is having a diagnositic workup right now. The intern on duty this am is puzzeled by her blood work. Her biles are lower than the normal bile tests, but higher than they should be. She mentioned that is possibly could be hepatic dysplasia, epilepsy, or yes it could be liver shunt. We are praying for the best. I'm at the library right now and not sure when I can re check the web site. Thanks for all your requests for updates. I'll know more this evening. Hoping & praying! Linda : :animal36  |
Glad to hear back from you. I was just thinking about Emily yesterday. I hope everything turns out OK with your tests. We're all still thinking about you. |
We are hoping and praying along with you here. It must be awfully stressful for you right now. I will be watching for an update as to how the workup comes out. Good Luck. |
Little Emily will be in my prayers. Gods loving arms are around her. Chloe sends hugs and kisses!!!! Joy, Nikki and Chloe Rose:rose: :getwellso |
I will have you and Little Emily in my prayers. Please keep us posted. Gucci sends huggies and Kisses. |
Thank God Emily's normal!!!!! We just came home last night with a seeminly healthy dog. Emily stumped the Auburn vet's. Her bloodwork, ultrasound, and neuro testing all showed a normal dog. It's possible we might have a epileptic problem, or a hyrdacepalitus problem. We are not to worry about either at this time. We are going back to life as normal with Emily. NO LIVER SHUNT YEAHHHHH!!!!! We are very happy and relieved at this mystery. Maybe Emily ate something. We'll never know. This website has been a wonderful place. Thanks to you great YTF visitors. :) :aimeeyork :animal36 :D  |
