Probably. When they are chipped...the breeder does not register the number in her name...the form is just given to the new owner. Depending on her registry...the tattoo would satisfy their requirements of permanently "marking" the dog. It's one or the other. Btw, if she has a tattoo...there's your proof she belongs to you. She doesn't really need a microchip.

| Microchips sometimes do go bad. Several years ago I had one of my Yorkies microchiped and a year later the chip could not be found anywhere. |

| Baron was micro-chipped by the Humane League here @ a free clinic that they had. He was 6 months old. He got an Avid chip put in. There was no Anesthesia they used a needle with the chip the size of a piece of rice and put it between his shoulder blades. It has moved down lower on his left blade. They said it could only be read with an Avid or Universal Scanner. His registration was a once and done thing. Sophie Kennedy has a Home Again Chip and it has to be re-newed every year. Her previous owner said that she would take care of that for me and change the name of the owner and the address on it.
