Default bringing home brother<3

i just brought by new 7wk old persian kitten home and princeton is taking this too well.. he's very spoiled and he has only been the only child. I have the kitty in my bedroom with a baby gate in the doorway.. prince keeps barking at the poor little guy and then running and kissing me. I am showing him a lot of attention bc I think he's worried he's been replaced. Is there anything I should be doing to introduce these two guys to eachother and help princeton relax?

here's some pictures of the new baby Ozzy:

I think it's normal give them a few days. I usually let them sniff the new animal through gates for the first bit. Then I let them interact for short periods of time with supervision. It has worked out well and no probablems at all. All the best!

thanks, his name is Ozzy like Ozzy osbourne lol

i did let them see eachother through the gate.. the cat seems more brave than princeton lol prince is like leaning in and trying to sniff from far away lol he barks then runs away. he's very nervous and curious. he is also being protective of me, everytime i go into the bed he barks loudly until i come out. I feel bad because prince always sleeps in bed and i kind of have to keep him out for a few days

Be careful you aren't "praising him" for the barking. If he barks at the kitty and then runs to you and you give him positive attention that reinforces in his mind that barking at the kitty is a good thing. You should do all that you can to show him barking at the kitty is not going to be tolerated. You can show him attention, but be careful to not reinforce his concerns about the kitty. Good Luck.

yea i hav been saying NO everytime he barks at the kitty, they had a little interaction this morning through the gate and it brought a tear to me eye lol prince was bein quieet and they were touching noses so i gave him a treat after. Now if he barks by the gate he looks at me and i say NO then he pouts and walks away so he's learning.. i think they r goin to be good together one day. Also, Princeton is very picky and I have had many troubles getting him to eat but last night and this morning when i fed him he ate verryy well which was surprising. I wonder if it has anything to do with the kitty?

& thanks darlene, he is such a good little boy too

today was their first meeting without the gate and it went surprisingly well, i recorded it lol but prince is marking all over my bedroom now! i let him in the bedroom so he can sniff around and try to understand whats going on and he is very gentle with the kitten but he pees on everything the cat comes in contact with. today i was holding the kitten and prince jus peed right on my rug! which is not like prince at all, then this evening he lifted his leg and peed on the doggy stairs which he now has to share with the kitten. I know he is probably trying to mark his "territory" but what should i do about this?

p.s. how do i upload videos?
