| Need advice asap! Please read! I want to drive 8 hours tomorrow morning to take a mini-vacation for 2-5 days. I cannot make the decision as to whether or not to take my Yorkie, Wiggy. Wiggy (and me too) is VERY co-dependent. He is by my side every minute I'm home, and lately I've been home a lot. I've left him for week-10 day long trips before, but only if I feel he is 100% safe and has proper companionship with a human he knows well. Wiggy loves my roommate, but he isn't home that much. He committed to be home all day tomorrow, and he always comes home at night. He promised he would spend enough time with Wiggy, but I'm not 100% sure he will. I don't want to take Wiggy with me because there are some places he won't be able to go and then he'll be left alone in a strange place. Plus, he's never been on a car ride longer than 2 hours. I have to put him in a harness and then leash the harness to the headrest in my car or else he gets on my lap. I could create a barrier from the backseat, but then he would be out of petting range for 8 hours. What would you do? If I don't feel Wiggy will be okay, I won't go. Am I just too worried? There are no other options for Wiggy until Tuesday and then he can stay with my mom, and that is okay.

| Personally if it were me, I would take him with me. If you decide to take him please put him in the back seat. Somehow secure him to the seatbelt or in a carrier. You can stop several times if needed to let him potty and be petted. He will probably sleep some of the way. Good luck whatever you decide. If you do take him make sure you are staying in a pet friendly place.

| I'd leave him with your roommate, since you say there will be some places you can't take him.

YT 3000 Club Member | that is a tough one, the strange place and car ride or the roommate, where are you going is it someplace that he would be able to be with you, I would take him with. I know I would worry too much about chester, because I spend alot of time with him as well. The car ride just take it wasy take his toys with you and stop every 2-3 hrs, esp if he is with you, that is the most important thing |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | That's hard... I would probable let him stay with your roommate especially if he'll be alone if you take him with you at some point anyway. That way, at least if he's alone he'll be in his own environment that he's comfortable in. What is it about your roommate that's making this hard? That would def. have to be figured into the equation....

| If I were you, I'd try to find a way to take him with you. If he's accustumed to having you around all of the time, and your roomate will be home only at night, he'll really be lonely. Has the roomate kept him before.? |
