I just asked my vet this last week. She said "In a perfect world, Yes...but right now you'd just be wrestling with him." Phew, cuz that is So true, Parker goes crazy when I try and brush Him let alone his teeth! She said to give him a couple Dentabones a week and that should be okay. Once he's older I am definately going to try...but right now he's just Way too hyper :D |
WOW, this is the first time in 4 days I have been on and is it me or is the system very slow today? Anyway, yes I brush both Chloe and Lacey's teeth every day or every other day. If you start when they are young, it is part of the routine. Of course, if your puppy is now older, it can be a challenge. I use a pet toothbrush, have tried the finger ones but cannot get way in the back, so I use a tiny toothbrush with all natural pet toothpaste. Since I started when they were puppies they tolerate it well, but if one of them is in a mood, I pry their little mouth open and literally put my finger in so they cannot bite down and have to keep their mouth open. Sorta of like biting down on a stick, only it is my finger. Works, though. I do recommend brushing, either by a pro of yourself because when your puppy is older, it will have gum and teeth problems. |
Absolutely! You can use brushes finger brushes, gauze or pantyhose, just use something and do it as often as possible. Even with brushing I just spent almost $1,200. at the vet for scalings and sealing for 5 of my crew. They really like me there. |
I TRY and do it but I should do it more often. He hates it but I put the toothpaste on the brush and as he's biting the brush I rub it against his teeth. Probably not the most thorough job but it's better than nothing! :) |
