| I'm SO sorry that Toby had an accident - poor baby! I don't blame you for not letting her hold him again! I would be livid too!

| )Something similar happened a few weeks ago. Everytime we come in from going outside, Luigi knows to sit and wait on the tile and for me to take his leash off. Also before he can go running he knows that I have a towel ther to wipe him off. (its been snowing alot here) So one day my hubby got home before I did and did most of the routine that we go thru. But he picked him up, walked into the kitchen to wipe him off. Luigi started squirming and manged to jump out of my hubby's arms. He landed head 1st and just laid there a minute. He got up but was stumbling a bit. Drank some water and so then Ray brought up to bed. He checked him over to see if he whimpered when he sqeezed his legs, ribs, etc and he seemed fine. They fell asleep til I got home. 1st thing out of my hubby's mouth was, "I thought we were going to have to go to the animal hospital." He proceeded to tell me everything. I thought I was going to strngle my hubby. But Luigi seemed to be okay. We was ready to play after his nap. He was running and playing and acting like nothing ever happened. |

| these little guys really think they can fly!!!!!!!!!! They are just like a greased pig when they get a notion!!!!!!!!! I don't think they have any fear of jumping at all, and we hold Gracie VERY securely and prefer only HANDS-IN-THE-KNOW handle her........she's very precious cargo. |

| Our Yorkies sure know who they like or DON'T like! If people really want to hold your Yorkie and they haven't before, have them sit on the sofa or on the ground, to minimize any potential accidents that may happen if your Yorkie doesn't like being held by that person! |

| Oh God....I know how you feel! Archie did that one time and did the exact motion you're talking about, but he turned out to be fine later. My aunt has a MONSTER two-year-old son. She's always telling me to bring Otis over to play, but I don't trust her son one bit. He's into hitting, jumping, throwing, choking, kicking, and when we go there, I'm always on the edge, and I hold Otis about 90 percent of the time, or Otis will hide. Small kids = |

| Oh! That is so scary! It worries me so much! She did jump out of my bag (purse) the first time we put her in it. Scared the crap out of me! I don't use it! Only that once! When my grandkids come over, they have to sit on the floor to hold her. That isn't too much fun for them, so don't hold her long! My worry is how she jumps off my lounge chairs and couch all the time. Don't know how to stop her from doing that! Brat! |

| Orinskye - I am so glad Toby is ok. My friend just only a few weeks ago told me of "mama holding onto her puppy Chihuauha, then the little puppy went to jump to daddy"....Well it all happened too quickly and daddy didn't see his little pup coming his way. The poor pup fell onto the tiled floor and cracked his head open. Even though this poor pup was rushed to the emergency vet, he didn't make it" It was heartbreaking! It is never a laughing matter over these little daredevils thinking they can fly and I'm just thankful that I've heard more happy endings to these stories than the sad one I told above. It is one of my worst fears with Schatzie doing something like that....My heart just stops when I read posts like these. Luckily everyone on here who has experienced their "jumping" Yorkie has been ok. (knock on wood)

Hold on a second Shotzies mom. I don't think anyone that read my post would for a minute think that I thought the little furbaby falling was what I thought was funny. That is almost insulting that you would imply that. If you re read my post you will find that I was laughing about the way some of the posts are written... such as: Mybirdys2003 Brat! Junebug My aunt has a MONSTER two-year-old son Shireyak They are just like a greased pig when they get a notion!!!!!!!!! orinskye to grab for him it bugs the SHI SHI out of me.... I apologize to any of the posters that thought I could be so callous as to laugh about one of these precious Yorkies falling, but count on the intelligence of the posters to know that what I found was comical is the way some of you write your posts!! Please accept my apology if that was the case. I have to say in all the posts, which are not many this is the first time someone has taken something I have posted this wrong.

| Lauri - yes, it is amazing how words can tend to be misconstrued. Apology accepted.

| pup Two years ago a friend has visitors and one dropped her Yorkie. Her leg was shattered and never healed properly, even with surgery. She had it amputated, does very well with 3 legs and does not know she is 3 legged, but it should not have happened. I tell people sit on the floor to play with my pups or they can't touch them. There as nothing as scary as hearing that thud when a little Yorkie hits the floor...gives me chills thinking about it. |

| While I love the internet and wonder now at 47 years old how I EVER lived without it in my younger years the thing I hate the most about it is this: Until people get to know you, as much as you can really get to know people that you never meet in real life, it is often hard for people to be able to read in the words what your intentions are. Just like what happened above. Anyone in real life that would know me, would know that a fear of my baby being dropped is a very real thing, and with grandchildren I worry constantly about them. Of course my baby will let anyone hold him including the little kids and while I try to always be there, dag nab it, the little sneakers do get to him sometimes with me unaware! I'm lucky in the respect that when I adopted Pita, he is already on his way to being a little old man and while he can get spunky sometimes, he is pretty much very reserved and quiet now. Almost stately in a way if you know what I mean. Andddd being a rescue and having been mistreated in his life he is also my shadow. Since I'm basically disabled now and fairly quiet myself in life he fits into my lifestyle perfectly. I love the snuggling and shadow like closeness that we share together. Even right now at my desk he has his bed and isn't but maybe 11 inches to the right of me whenever I'm sitting here. He will mostly sleep when I'm typing, and I actually think the sound of the keyboard is what puts him to sleep, that and the desk lamp that I have for my scrapbooking with it's warmth right there by him! I never leave my desk or the room without first putting him on the floor. Because he is going to follow me or at least try to unless I stay in his line of sight! At this point in his life, he just had 10 teeth removed, (I've only had him now 2 months!) and he has what my vet thinks are grade 1 luxating patellas, so he doesn't have any business at all jumping off of anything! I'm glad we cleared this up, because I would really hate that anyone would have thought I would think a furbaby... well anything really, skinkid, gerbil, well anything living and breathing actually falling would be a funny thing. Before I was hurt on the job 4 years ago, which caused my disability I fell. In fact I fell 17 feet on my head into a hole. I was a welder all of my life, and at the end was a welder 2 times a year (to keep my papers) and had gone to school for 4 years at night to become a safety coordinator and specialist as well as an EMT. Needless to say, the fall did a lot of damage, but that is another long story and I won't put anyone here through the details. This is the rule of thumb on a fall! This goes for humans and animals alike. Any fall that is greater than twice the height of the victim is considered life threatening. And while the signs and symptoms may not immediately appear, or may not appear at all for that matter, there is reason to be concerned for several days after the fall and observation is required to rule out anything internal and/or neurological. I'm sure any of those here that are nurses etc would back me up on this one. Back to what I was saying about funny. I enjoy so much reading the little things in these posts. The nuances, the inflections of speech, the emotions and cliches' are all a part of what I enjoy so much about coming here. I think I have determined that all Yorkie lovers are educated, can spell correctly and have a degree of street intelligence that makes it a privilege to be a part of this forum!!!! Again!! thanks, and in the future, never be afraid to say hey what the heck are you talking about here???? if you think I mean something that I didn't
