| what Im trying to find out.....is it possible to buy an a pup that has AKC and not actually be the pup that the AKC is intended for? If you dont see the parents, then where did the puppies come from? As long as you have AKC parents registries then you can, cant you pretty much register any litter as an AKC litter? |

| I fell for the APR papers as well and let me tell you, BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! NEVER AGAIN will I buy a dog unless it is AKC or CKC (CANADIAN) I learned the hard way, my dog has genetic disorder with her knees (luxating patellas) I also found out my dog was from a puppymill, when I called the original "breeder" they didn't have the parents either, it took her about 5-10 mins to FIND the papers on MY dog because she didn't know anything on the top of her head, she seemed like a nice lady and was very informative talking but she blank out said they sell their dogs to someone who then sells them off, she doesn't ship them, unless someone comes there to buy a pup the rest go to whoever will buy them for whatever. |

| I think the information your looking for would be provided by the breeder. I mean, a responsible breeder knows the mother dog she would be living with the breeder and interacting with the breeder, so how could this person not know or give you info on the mother dog? The breeder also knows her lineague, and if the breeder used their own stud, then they would know that information for him aswell. I don't know about registries, but I think other members could answer your questions on what information they provide. I'm still searching for my furbaby, so the info I can share is what I've learned here on YT and other places, like the AKC website.

Also AKC requires detailed record keeping and dna samples thus ensuring a puppy is indeed the product of a specific breeding. The implementation of the record keeping and dna requirements lead some breeders to seek out alternative registries.
