Stores that allow Yorkies? Has anyone compiled a list of chain stores that actually allow yorkies? Im always asked by other small dog owners what stores allowed them discreetly and out in the open. Maybe we could put a list together ,it may encourage yorkie owners to take their pups along for errand runs :D |
Hmm... nowhere around here. .. Just the obvious like petsmart and peco! OH the Nail salon lets me bring her in! And the tanning salon! He he |
This would be interesting to know... I know that Home Depot allows pets to be walked on a leash. (I've heard this from fellow YTs). Also, of course the chain pet stores (Petco, Petland, Petsmart... you get the idea) but when you think about it, they are not the safest place to take your pup! Any other stores people know of?? |
I took Piper into a Coach Store while my daughter was picking out a pocket book for her birthday. Piper was in a sling just kind of peeking out watching everything. The sales clerk said that they do allow dogs in their store since they sell dog collars, leashes and carriers. Piper did get a lot of attention. |
I know this is not a list but a general rule of thumb is that as long as they do not sell food, they will let you in. With some of the Larger chains such as target and walmart even though they do not all sell food I believe they have a general policy of no dogs allowed. |

Home Depot and Lowe's allow them to be walked, Bed Bath and Beyond, if they are in a carrier. Craft stores like Michaels and Jo-Anne's, I've walked and used a carrier in the basket/cart. Dollar store allows it, and so does Big Lots. Furniture stores I've gone to all allow it. If there is no open food served, or food courts, stores are much more likely to allow it. |
all walgreens ive been to are pet friendly :D |
If we're talking about officially, some non-food stores opened or closed still do not allow it. Some Home Depot staff up here welcome them while a lot, if not all, Home Depot stores have the "no dogs" pictogram printed on their window at the doors. This is in BC, Canada, so I don't know about the ones down south. :) For stores not yet mentioned, I've taken mine openly under arm, etc, into BestBuy (they do sell chocolate bars...), Tiffany & Co. (they tell me I can walk her on the ground, but I don't do it due to trust issues with my girl  ), Holt Renfrew, Office Depot, Staples, Toys R Us (they too sell candy), Sears, HMV, Sony stores, banks, sports merchandise stores, shoe and clothing stores separately, and various other electronic stores--indoor malls too, but with that one, the rules vary. |
I know the Christmas Tree Stores allow dogs in. |
Prime Outlets which I know are dabbled across the US are fur-kid friendly! |
We take our little man into our local Best Buy store and have seen other there also. They don't say anything as long as you carry them or put them in a cart:rolleyes: |
I've taken mine into the bank and they knew she was there even tho she was in a carrier. I shopped for an hour or more at Penneys with her in her carrier but to be honest, I'm not sure anyone even knew she was with me. I've walked her thru the mall but again, she was in a carrier. I'm always trying to find places I can take her. An antique store that doesn't allow dogs said I could take her in as long as she was in her carrier but she began barking and whining so much I left. |
Since your in Ny It's Most place's that allow dog's as long as there carried in a bag or stroller. |
Lord and Taylor here is pretty nice about it. |
Almost every store here allows dogs unless they sell food and i know that Target and Costco def. do not allow dogs. |
