I know that Home Depot allows pets to be walked on a leash. (I've heard this from fellow YTs).

Also, of course the chain pet stores (Petco, Petland, Petsmart... you get the idea) but when you think about it, they are not the safest place to take your pup!

Any other stores people know of?? :confused:

As long as she's in her bag and quiet they haven't said a word to us.

I lived in Mannheim Germany about 20 years ago and loved it. It would be so wonderful to be able to back there again... I'm totally jealous of you.

As long as the pets are well behaved they can go into restaurants. They aren't just running around while your eating so it doesn't create an issue at all. If they aren't behaving you can be asked to leave so good manners is a must. Germany really is a pet friendly country.

Amongst other things, I want to drive on the autobahn and park on a sidewalk again. lol

I too am from Indianapolis and concur with chachi, not very dog friendly at all minus the obvious of pet stores. Which is kinda sad, I take my babies everywhere with me. Usually either myself or my hubby will stay at home with them if we are going to be shopping for a while (ie. grocery shopping), or if we take them with us and can't take them in the store with us we take turns sitting in the car with them lol.

Here in Michigan we have a beautiful new indoor/outdoor mall called Partridge Creek. They even have dog statues, water and specialty dog food stores. There are small dog shaped stickers in all the "dog friendly" stores. It is so nice to see.
I don't plan on bring our little ones though, there are always a lot of dogs and I am a nervous Nelly! It is very nice though.

I agree I am one of those people that take my dog everywhere But i would not go to a food place sit down & see someone elses smelly dog sitting there.

Broad ripple is the only area in Indianapolis that I know that trys to be dog friendly

Haha dont be jealous, i cant WAIT to go back to the states. Living in germany would be better if i could learn the dang language (yes i've tried NUMEROUS times :() Been here a little over 3 years and i'm SO tired of it! I'm lookin forward to September. we're heading to South Carolina Ft. Jackson YEAHHHH :D!!! But i will definatly miss the autobahn! We want to get an evo when we get back but itll be no fun cuz we cant really open her up on the highway like u can here :( GRRRR!!! BUT i cant wait to NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING!!! And even the smallest resturants have parking lots... I could go on.............

I walked in to target with apple and I was in the pet section and noticed there were about two other yorkies there as well. The one thing we all had in common aside from the cute yorkies was that we were carrying them and not walking them. This is something I do and so far so good havent been asked to leave any establishment.

Restaurants
 
We like to take Cookie with us where ever we go. I have started asking restaurants in our area that have outside dining if we could bring Cookie and all have said yes, that she can come with us to the outside patio's etc but not inside!! It was nice to hear...I mean if you think about it, birds, insects and other things actually land, climb and poo on these tables He He!!:rolleyes:

Sa:rolleyes:me story here in Italy. Dogs are allowed most places but parking is "for the dogs". Small Europe - lots of people and cars and we are all squeezed in. Can\'t beat the States for space altho\' it seems hard on dog owners.

I carry mine in my Alyson carrier. They won\'t even know I have her with me lol. No one has said that i cannot take her into the store as long as she is quiet and not a threat to anyone I don\'t see why not. After all she is my baby. If some store did not let me in, I just simply won\'t shop there, I would think its their lost of business anyways. =D

One of our kids worked in a store like a Home Depot once and a lady came through the check out with her dog. When asked if anyone said anything to her she replied, if they don\'t like my dog they don\'t need my money.
