| Potty training.... How do I get my dog to scratch the door when she needs to go potty? Or how do I get her to let me know she has to go when I have her running around playing in the house? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | you can put bells on your door so she can ring them when she needs to go out. i bought poochie bells but you can make your own if your slightly creative (i am not LOL) To train her to use them you need to ring the bell yourself for the first few days. Ring the bell and say "let's go potty" or whatever you want. then open the door and take her out. Everytime you take her out to potty do this. then after a few days try to get her to ring it with either her nose or her feet. you can point to it or hold it out to her to get her to touch it. it doesn't have to make noise at first. you just need to get her to touch it. once she touches it say your phrase "lets go potty" and take her out. from now on try to get her to touch it every time you take her out. once she has this down, you need to get her to touch it with more force to make a noise. it may take a few days or a few weeks but once she gets it you will always know when she has to go outside.

I agree. I trained Sasha this way since every other way I tried to potty train her seemed to fail. Honestly, she caught on within 2 days. Every dog is different though, so yours may take longer to train or heck even shorter. All I know is that this method worked wonderfully for me as well as for Sasha. Good luck! | |
