| is it bad... hey everyone... so i was wondering... Toby has been doing better the past two nights. Tues he slept from 10-5:30 and last night 10:30-4:30 in his crate, with no crying. On Tuesday I just woke up at 530 with him, turned on lights and tv b/c i knew he was not going to go back to sleep. Last night though at 4:30 i put him back in the crate after potty and he cried for about an hour or longer until i took him back outside and then just woke up for the day. so my question is, i think he might possibly sleep after that 4-5 am potty break if i put him in bed with me? but i'm soooo scared he is going to fall off or suffocate. any ideas??? |

| Just like a human baby, the less stimulation the better. When you get up for the early morning potty break, try not to speak too much, and if you do, do it quietly No TV, and minimum lights, just enough to not trip over stuff. If you don't have a nightlight, get one Do the potty thing, then back into the crate very quietly and matter-of-factly, and he should go back to sleep for a bit. Does he have food available to nibble on in his crate? Maybe a small doggie snack would help too, since he's little and needs to eat frequently.

| when we potty there is just a night light and the outside light on. i literally dont say two words to him. except "good boy" when i put him in his crate. and then he cries for hours.... no fun. making it til 4-5 in the morning is a huuuge improvement and i'm grateful for it b/c i was not even functioning that first week haha. the only time i put lights/tv on is if we are getting up. he doesn't have food in his crate but he has his stuffed animal and a kong... he will cuddle up with me on the recliner and take a little morning nap... usually 615am or so... which is why i thought maybe put him in bed after the 4-5am potty break, and maybe we could sleep and skip the crying/barking/whining. buuut i dont want to mess up the crate sleeping he does from 10-4/5 ya know?? |

| after the AM potty break is when we go back for another hour of sleep and that's when Amelia and I have our Cuddle Time. We both snuggle and doze till it's time to get up. Of course Millie is big at 9lbs and I make sure I'm in a position where I won't roll her way. |

| My cleo does the same thing (she is almost 5 months, 3.7lbs). During the week i put her back in the crate, cause my alarm goes off at 6, but on the weekend i let her in the bed, this way she lets me sleep until 8 or later!
