| Does she look like a Yorkie? Here is our 4-month old Yorkie who we have had for 2 months. We bought her sight unseen because I liked the breeder, price, location, registry, etc. She was bigger than we had hoped, although we did want a more stout Yorkie because we have three young children. She is about 6 pounds now and is AKC registered. Anyway, fast forward to the present, I am getting comment after comment, asking why she doesn't look like a Yorkie. Normally, I don't allow other people's comments to affect me, but I think they are saying what I am thinking. My mom has a 6-month old Yorkie, and he already has the beautiful coat and the 'Yorkie' look. My neighbor has a 3-month old Yorkie who also has beautiful colors and coat and looks like an older, more typical Yorkie. Our Yorkie is finally starting to turn grey on her head, but her hair is very course, wavy and short. She doesn't look typical to me, but until recently, I've been accustomed to adult Yorkies and not puppies. We love her regardless of anything, and we think she is adorable. However, I would appreciate your comments, just to satisfy my own curiosity. She has a very calm demeanor, but she does prefer to be with our bigger dogs than with us, and she LOVES outside. |

| My almost 4 month old Yorkie looks very similar to yours. She has wavy hair and hasn't started turning grey, yet. Don't fret; your furbaby looks like a Yorkie! |

| Coco was about that color at that age, looks like a yorkie to me!! When the puppy hair grows out it should be silkier, Coco's was, her puppy hair matted easily.

| Looks adorable to me. Once someone told me my Mia was not a yorkie because she is not black and gold. She is blue and gold! People sometimes just don't know what they are talking about! Laugh at it and enjoy!! |

She looks all Yorkie to me too. Personally, I like the regular standard ears erect look. You can do this with yours too. Shave off the top triangle of hair on her ears both front and back. If that doesn't work after a few days, you may have to follow instructions listed in one of the Stickies here for Taping Ears. Some prefer the floppy ear look that is sweet too. Just depends on what you like. She is in what I like to call the awkward teenage stage. See that sparse, straggley hair on top, that signals a probable silky coat that is just what you will want. My Ben looked just the same. He turned silver on top before he turned tan. Her hair is really in her eyes. Might want to seek a groomer's advice on that. I went ahead and cut mine around the nose and eyes, so the hair would stay out of their eyes. But if you do that, you do it forever. If you let it continue to grow, you can pull it back to a nice proper topknot and most will be out of her eyes. But you might want to use some topknot gel to keep it back for now. As far as the wavy hair....a slight wave might straighten out as the hair gets longer and heavier. But some wind up keeping the wavy hair. My very first Yorkie had wavy hair. She was adorable, but not in standard. So, we spayed her and loved her just the same. Her coat did not look like the traditional straight to the floor Yorkie coat but I think she still looked like a yorkie. I would relax if I were you. Answer questions like you are getting with "she is not out of her puppy stage yet. She will continue to change for a few months yet. And we think she is adorable!"
