How can you give away your furbaby just because you are having a skin baby!!!!!

It happens all the time. Look at our site there was just one last week and she is a total sweet heart!

Thats CRAZY to me... I think of my peanut as my little baby and if and when my hubby and I have a baby I would neeeever give up my peanut!!! I understand about not having time for them bc peanut does take and want a lot of my time but I would manage with it. I could just never do that.

I don't really believe the ad; I think it's just a "for sell" ad. Notice she says "I PERFER A FAMILY THAT HAS KIDS", what's that about? You have plenty of time when your pregnant, it's when you have the kids, you're busy.

yeah thats true!! That poor little guy, it looks like he was part of the family at one time...who really knows whats going on, Its still heartbreaking

peanut is almost 2 and isnt all the way potty trained he still has boo boo's

There was not even a rehoming fee

On CL most people always ask for one, especially if it's a pure bred puppy

The ad IMO really does not look real. If so, than those people do not deserve a precious Yorkie in their home. Makes me wonder what type of parents they will be. If the ad is real, then in all honesty , those people ARE doing the right thing by the puppy. Giving him a new home, that hopefully he will be loved and cherished forever.

The ad is gone now so not sure what it was all about but I did have to rehome one dog when I had my first son (30-some years ago). I had a Lhasa Apso and planned on having them both but as soon as we brought our son home, the Lhasa Apso was horrible towards him. She would sneak in and poop under the crib, growl, bark, and show teeth everytime she was anywhere near my son. We tried for a month and I was just a nervous wreck. It was plain she wasn't going to accept my son. And I was scared she might snap when I wasn't looking. You just can't take a chance with a brand new baby! So, we had to make the difficult move to find her another home. For awhile we saw her occasionally but then we moved and I lost track of the couple who took her. I know they loved her and she got to be the only child again.

Looks like you had to make a hard decision and it turned out for the best BUT time and again people do just drop their pets at shelters. Take a look at a lot of the ads on Petfinder.com. Had a baby couldn't keep her, move couldn't keep him. It really is sad because most do not end up in loving homes. Your story did sound like a much more happy ending for your Lhasa.

The ONLY reason I could understand giving away a dog for a child is if the dog is biting and hurting the child. Aggression is not good. And kids come first that sense.

Other than that, I can NEVER imagine giving up my dog for my kid. I want both!

When I was growing up, my mom "rehomed" several of our dogs. It was VERY traumatic to my sister and I. I vowed I would never do that to my children.

Then, when I was pregnant with my daughter, we got a puppy on a complete whim. It was a huge mistake. I was dealing with severe depression during my pregnancy and the puppy was constantly biting and chasing my two-year-old son, wouldn't housebreak, etc. I couldn't take it. Emotionally, I just could not handle that puppy at that point in my life. So, we rehomed him.

However, I fully admit that it was MY mistake. I didn't think it through, he was an impulse buy, and that is all my fault. I was wrong. I could never ever do that again. We have all bonded with Leo so I can't IMAGINE getting rid of him. With this new one, I thought it through long and hard before I decided to take the plunge.

I think that people take getting a pet too lightly. If they get the least bit inconvenienced, "Just get rid of it!" It's too easy. It's irresponsible and I feel bad for the animals who are moving from home to home and never finding that stable safe place.
