YorkieTalk Newbie! | ![]() I just bought 2 AKC registered yorkies from a woman who I now think is a puppy mill person! here is the story she told me: both 2 years old ,1 male 1 female, unfixed. Good with children, housebroken, up to date on shots, female de-barked...both sound physically! Very cute little tykes and they had had a ltter together of 6 pups a year ago. O.K. I go to look at them and she has the boys AKC registeration but not the girls? she has it in her possession but it has never been updated from the last owner. I take the dogs all their info...basically becasue i want to save them and withhold money from the payment until I get her papers straightened out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [IMG]http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/statusicon/user_online.gif think they have ever seen a child ! AND they had to have all their shots updated and new cuz her records didn't reflect any current shots! Another $240, with worm check and heartworm meds for spring. He is not sound ![]() ![]() ![]() http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...ser_online.gif [IMG]http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/buttons/report.gif[/ |

Sounds like you got into a bad deal all right and glad you are scheduling them for spay & neuter. It is rare to run across two adult dogs for sale together that are going to be of the caliber you need for a breeding program. If they were great, why would a breeder want to sell them? What were their histories? If she bred them before, why were the papers never in her name? How did she register the litter? Lots of questions..... but, if she does come up with the papers I think you will have no choice but to pay her the rest of the money. If her shots were out of date (not just due) then maybe you could deduct just the cost of the shots, but not the visit and deworming (unless they did have worms). What did your contract say? Did it list dates for last shots? Debarking does not make it so they cannot bark, just supposed to be less noisy and shrill. So, she may have actually had the procedure done, just not as effective as some. I think it is a rotten thing to do to a dog anyway. They bark for a reason. Probably needing attention. She could probably say the house-training issue was just stress of a new home and the children issue -- again subjective and hard to prove. That is why I am saying legally you will probably have to pay her the rest of the money. As far as the unsound (injury or congenital?) male, do you mean he has a knee or other joint issue? Did you get a health guarantee in the contract? Anything in there to help you? Most contracts from puppymill people do little more than protect the seller and list all of the things they won't be responsible for. ![]() But, if the contract does not cover these incidents in detail, you will probably still be liable for the money due. I know it is not fair, but that is how puppy mills continue to operate. They don't give a contract that has enough protection for the buyer.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | ![]() Thanks for all the advise.....I intend to pay her the money that was never a problem but she isn't getting it until and unless I get Heidi's papers.. She can take me to court if she wants...she will lose cuz she will be caught in her lies by the emails she sent me. The newest one just now in fact was : from her, i sent the papers out Sat. I've been very busy please send me your mail address as I lost it..... now pray tell how she sent them oput Sat. if she has no address???? just how stupid does she think I am??? The email before that said : I sent the papers out last Tues. registered mail it may take 3 to 5 days for them to reach you... We live 100 apart! So supposedly she has sent them twice without the benefit of my address???????????? PLEASE! The problem with Levi's knee was it moves around in the joint... on a scale of 0 to 4 the vet rates the injury he said levi's knee was a 1 if it was a 3 he would be limping visabily. Since he had a clean bill of health a year ago it may be an injury or congenital..no way to know for sure....so I don't want to take chances bringing pups with congenital issues in the world. This woman is a wacko in my book. ![]() |
