| dew claw and tail docking my dog had her first pup last night and i was wondering when it is appropriet for tail docking and dew claw removal. i wouldn't let anyone (including myself) touch the baby untill the new mother has had a chance to relax. |

| When the pup is 3-5 days old. (Closer to 5 days if the pup is extremely small.) I'm assuming that this time around you will be having a vet do it or having your mentor show you how...or will you be doing it yourself? |

| i'll take it to the vet. i'm a big, tatooed, hunter who doesn't have the heart to inflict pain on anything unless it is to put it out of its misery or for food. |
