Just read that your got the DNA results back and she is a yorkie. At least you know now. She'll probably change as she gets older, you'll see. do you have any recent pictures of her? i saw the ones in your album but was wondering if you took anymore |

I'm so happy you found out she really is a Yorkie. I think my Punky is too, it really makes no difference. We love her no matter what, and I always have my pets spayed or neutered. Punky was spayed as soon as I got her. I had no plans to breed. |
That's such great news! I'm very happy she's a yorkie. Good for the dog, good for the breeder, good for you. I thought she looked like a chi mix, so I've learned something here too about the wide range of yorkie looks. Congrats on your darling girl. |
For the record... Quote:

Thanks again to everyone who posted! I appreciate all of your opinions and comments...it was tremendously helpful!!!!!!!!!!! |
Yorkies I think that is the beauty of Yorkies......they can all look so different.....but they are Yorkies just the same...... |
Okay, I'm not the only one who reads the second part of the breed detection right? The part that says: There are also signals from other breeds which are not strong enough to identify with confidence. How can these faint signals occur? There are two possibilities. First, your dog could have mixed-breed ancestors beyond three generations back. A second reason is that our test may not yet cover one of the breeds in your dog's ancestry. I'm trying to ignore it but my mind won't let me, it does say there are other breeds detected either from 3 generations past or not in data base....... I'll talk to the vet in the morning...... |
Sure, talk to your vet, and I will be interested to hear the answer. Keep in mind though that if it's more than 3 generations back, this is 1/16th max. AND people have said that sometimes yorkies just look like that when they are young. I would say the odds are pretty strong that she is full yorkie. Personally, I wouldn't worry. |
chorkies If you look at my profile pic, the darker one is Bailey and she's a Chorkie. She is taller, like a Chi, but the coloring is all yorkie! My long haired chi looked so different from any chi I ever saw, I thought she was a mix. Then I walked by a pet store and thought I was looking at my little Bella! You never know what she'll end up looking like. Just give it some time and she may end up looking just like your other baby. |
