Sylvia I shave all my girls from their anus to the pee pee and trim around the pee pee keeps them very clean...with 9 too difficult to keep that area longer and clean (with their longer tail hair you cant tell the shaving)...this way everyone is happy

My little Lacey is like that. I haven't measured her but I think I will. But, when she potties you can't tell half the time because she's so low. I use baby wipes around her mouth and another on her bottom. I figure if you can use them on a baby it wouldn't harm my Lacey. Every morning I brush both yorkies, Lacey will have hair on the ground within a month or two. I just use a baby wipe whenever I smell anything, also brushing often will take some of the roll in the ground stuff off.

Toto also had that problem .... our vet showed us a little trick. I believe I still have pics I posted ... anyway, band the tail and on either side up near the top of her back. Looks like she has three little "ponytails"!

I also trim [with scissors only] her little butt and her little "tee tee" area. You can also trim [again with scissors] the long hair inside her legs and on her belly a little shorter. Toto absolutely will not step in her urine and will not pee on a pad but once!! "Miss Prissy Paws" doesn't like to be stinky!! BTW her coat is also floor length. Can't find the pics but will try to find thread where I posted them.

I also use the puppy bath wipes or just regular baby wipes when necessary.

I had forgotten I could use cornstarch or babypowder. I do have her bottom to just in front of her pp clipped and her upper thighs. It is the hair hanging down from the back of her thighs and her tail that gets nasty. I am going to try the absorbent pads and rinsing her off at night early enough so she can dry before bed. Sylvia

I agree with just hosing her behind off a couple times a day (use the kitchen sink spray nozzle --just warm water/no soap). Spray her off with warm water and pat her dry with a towel.... she'll dry more completely quickly.

I have to wash my two dog's feet this way (after they've been outside) if they're muddy. I just hold their feet under the facet for a quick clean.

Had the same problem with my babies,even at 1 year,I used cornstarch then found luvs baby whipes,use them all the time and it has really made a differance,good luck,now when they potty they wait for me to hit them with the whippy and then there off to play again...buy stock in luvs...
