1 Attachment(s) I dunno....David's lookin' pretty top knottish to me! :p |
Hee. Yeah, he is getting pretty close, especially with the matching earrings. |
Continue putting bows in your male Yorkies hair! I'd use Macho style one though. Give him real cool ones. To offset any girly type bows. I'd try to find the biker kind if they make any... I saw something on Animal planet last night that I thought was utterly ridiculous.. This is very true. A older woman in L.A. is making dog wigs and selling them! I saw them on yorkies, and on all types of dogs, even the bigger breeds. OMG, I thought how dumb. Dog wigs? Human hair, braids and the whole nine yards on them? some of them were died, pink, blue, and ALL different colors:eek: IMHO that was outrageous. She was selling them , for around $60.00. Now that is BAD... PLace your bows on your male yorkies, they ought to wear them, they have top knots, and look awesome:thumbup: |
If you check around places like michaels, they have "its a boy" ribbon :D Send it to a bow maker, hehehe! Everyone calls Thom a girl, even my hubby at times! I just blow it off  |
Not to hijack the thread, but I saw that eppy too. While I would never put a wig on Thor (well, maybe for Halloween), the dogs seemed comfortable enough in them. Technically, bows, wigs, t-shirts, they are all unecessary. That doesn't mean they are not fun, though. :) |
I get the comments about Maximus too. "you're making him gender confused". <insert rolled eyes> whatever. I just let it roll off for the most part. I prefer his hair up too. I always tell them it's cheaper to buy the hair bands than prescription glasses for dogs. ROFLOL I have a tendency to think all yorkies are girls too. I saw one just groomed at the pet boutique (same day Maximus had an appt.) and even after they said "he", I referred to their pup as a she. He was just too pretty to be a boy. lol So, I guess I can kind of understand for misunderstanding, but the "trying to be funny" comments I can live without. |

I dunno, it's just all about expressing yourself I guess. To each his own. I think this day and age anything goes, ESPECIALLY male Yorkies with topknots...which is sooooo cute! :) But even back in the day with my little Maltese that I had 20 yrs ago, his hair was always tied back with a barrette. I don't think it has to do with the sex of the dog so much as the breed. Certain breeds must tie their hair back if it is kept long. |
Don't get me wrong, I think anything goes as long as the dog is comfortable. It's kind of a personal thing for me to try to help Thor look manly. His former owner dressed him up all the time, had him in a top knot, carried him in a Juicy Couture bag, the works. At the same time, she did not pay a lot of attention to him beyond his capacity as an accessory. So for me, being a good owner to him means letting him look like a little boy now (to the extent that he can). I must admit to EXTREME temptations to dress him up, but I try to restrain myself. I think it's perfectly fine to have boy dogs in bows, and even little dresses and rhinestone collars. They aren't going to care. It's just for me and Thor, part of my love is expressed by keeping him in a puppy cut. |

I agree, make them feel ignorant of the breed. Tell them that yorkies are famous for "topknots" regardless of sex and it is a healthy practice to keep from damaging their eyes. That'll show 'em to question ya! ;) |

Ha ha thats great!!! :) very funny as for the person that said your pup looks like a "crossdresser" tell them to shut up and mind their own business!!! |
haha, I can just imagine what I would have said. We sure do put up with peeps comments. I would have said, do you know anything about Yorkies, which he is? Guess not or you wouldn't make a comment. They might not ever talk to you gain, but who gives a shoot right?? |
the dog doesn't care and you shouldn't either =) who cares what people think. Do what makes you and your puppy happy |
