| My Big Boy! Took Higgins to the new vet this morning.....and I like her a lot. He had his lil anal glands pressed and we made an appointment to have him neutered on June 17th. They weighed him and he has gained a WHOLE POUND this month and is now up to FIVE pounds at five and a half months. Gonna be big like his mom! He runs all day long, so he is pure muscle! And testosterone! He wasn't happy at the vets, but then a cute little Malti-poo came in and he decided that the vets was a great place to meet girls! And cats! And mark the bushes outside! He had a ball! I also gave him a bath before we went to the vet this morning. In the kitchen sink. I got wetter than he did! Does NOT like baths any more, thank you very much. Oh, just to put this out there......We bought a 7 month supply of Advantix for both dogs. This vet says that she likes the Advantix better than Frontline (which we have always used on Pogo) because it keeps the ticks from biting. With Frontline, the tick bites into the dog and it takes quite awhile for it to die and drop off. With Advantix, they drop off right away and never even bite the dog, she says. Also, the mosquito protection that Advantix supplies is superior in her opinion. Higgins has been using Advantix and so far, so good. It's SUNNY here today! Finally!! So I am going to douse myself with mosquito repellant and go out and enjoy it! Hope it's sunny wherever you are! Hugs, Mary Ellen |

| Good news! Higgins is probably going to be a bit sad for a few days after the snip-snip surgery, but he should be okay after that and back to his normal jovial self! Weather has been nice out here as well, we've gotten in a lot of outdoor sun play time! |

| That little devil -- doesn't like BATHS, but he LOVES playing in the hose spray and digging to China in the MUD! Which is what he did this afternoon, after that NICE BATH I gave him this morning! I tell ya, little boy dogs are no different than little boy humans! Wish I had my camera moment: We were heading out for a walk, unleashed on our little dirt road, and crossing the road was a BIG red slider turtle. Well, didn't Higgins investigate that turtle and bark and growl and dance all around it.......THEN here came Pogo tearing down the road and chasing Higgins AWAY from that turtle! Wouldn't let the little guy anywhere near it. Pogo wasn't at all interested in the turtle -- we have lots of them so they are ho hum to Pogo -- so I figure he was protecting Higgins....at least that's what it looked like, but he may have been protecting the turtle, too! I just love watching animals! |

| Wow, yeah it would be interesting if we could find out what animals are thinking. He could be protecting Higgins, or the turtle! Though I imagine a turtle really wouldn't do too much harm to a dog? Would it bite? Not that a Yorkie could do too much to hurt a turtle either, I imagine... heheheh |

Living in the city, we don't have a big tick problem here. But now that it's sunny and Otis runs around in the backyard, I'm a bit concerned.

When Otis got neutered, the bill was astronomical!! When I looked at the breakdown in the invoice, they had charged me somethign like 20 bucks for the funnel (that cone thing that goes around the neck to keep the dog from biting his sutures.) And I've seen them for way cheaper at pet stores. Might want to buy your own funnel and save a couple of bucks.

It is used for the topical prevention and treatment of fleas, mosquitoes and ticks including deer ticks (the major carrier of Lyme disease), American dog ticks, Brown dog ticks and lone star ticks. --- Brand Name Advantage (Bayer) Active Ingredient(s) Imidacloprid (9.1%), Inert ingredients (90.9%) What is this product used for Advantage is a once a month topical flea treatment for cats and kittens over 8 weeks or older and dogs and puppies 7 weeks or older.
