| You know you are a dog person when... 1. You have a kiddie wading pool in the yard, but no small children. 2. You have baby gates permanently installed at strategic places around the house, but no babies. 3. You refer to yourselves as Mommy & Daddy. 4. You can't see out of the passenger side of the windshield because there are nose-prints all over the inside. 5. You have 32 different names for your dog. Makes no sense, but she understands. 6. You like people who like your dog. You despise people who don't. 7. You carry dog biscuits in your purse or pocket at all times. 8. You talk about your dog the way other people talk about their kid. 9. You sign and send birthday/anniversary/Christmas cards from your dog. 10. You put an extra blanket on the bed so your dog can be comfortable. 11. Your dog is getting old and arthritic, so you go buy lumber and build her a small staircase so she can climb onto your bed by herself. 12. Your license plate or license plate frame mentions your dog. 13. You have your dog's picture on your office desk (but no one else's) 14. You lecture people on responsible dog ownership every chance you get. 15. You skip breakfast so you can walk your dog in the morning before work. 16. You don't go to happy hours with co-workers any more because you need to go home and see your dog. 17. Your weekend activities are planned around your dog. 18. You keep an exra water dish in your second-floor bedroom, in case your dog gets thirsty at night (after all, her other dish is way down on the first floor). 19. You carry pictures of your dog in your wallet instead of pictures of your parents, siblings, significant other, or anyone else remotely human. 20. Your parents refer to your pet as their granddog. I found this fun little excerpt from dog's life magazine...we have a kiddie pool & baby gates, I am mommie, we have a car seat, many different names (Momo's nick names: munchkin, schnookums, widdle man, goofball ~ Mimi's: perty girl, princess, pumpkin, sweetie), everybody likes my Mimi & Momo, treats all over the house, they are my kids, not only do they sign all the cards...they're in the picture, extra blanket in their bed on my bed, they're still young but I have a cushion that they use to go up & down my bed, I have Mimi's & Momo's pictures in my wallpaper & screensaver on my computer & cell phone, I try to help out in YT about responsible dog ownership & let people know about puppy mills, I can't wait to come home after work to see them, my life revolves around them, & we have 2 water bottles & 2 water dishes (upstairs & downstairs), there's grandpa & grandma & they call Mimi & Momo 'kids'...like "How are the kids doing?".

Thor's Human Donating Member | 21. You not only buy treats for your dog, but cook and cut them just the way your dog likes.

| That's so cute and me as well. I bet we could go on and on with additions too, 22. You carry poopy bags in your pocket. You go to blow your nose and you pull out a plastic bag with a paper towel in it instead of a tissue. 23. Your legs go numb during the night because your furbaby is sleeping on them. 24. You say no to dinner with friends because you have to get home to walk and feed the dog in your life. |

| Sadly to say, I'm a yes to almost all of them! I never thought I would be one of the "crazy" dog parents. My favorites are #9, #14, and #17. LOL!

| The list reminds me how much dog lovers have in common. I do not do everything described on the list with my dogs, but some of the comments describe my relationship with my dogs. I think they need to add that dog lovers enjoy singing and using baby talk when interacting with their dog. I think my dogs are a part of the family. My brother thought I was hilarious for saying that my dogs share our last name. LOL I call my dogs by different names too, and they know I am talking to them by the tone I use. I do not give my dogs a blanket, but I give them their own pillow to sleep on. I carry a bag of treats with me when I take my dogs for walks or at home, because I might need to train or retrain a command or behavior. I provide a water bowl at night and I break some food to make them easier for my dog to eat. Of course, Yorkie Talk members love to talk about their dog as if they are their children. Thanks for sharing the list, because it was entertaining. Last edited by JoshieBoy; 04-07-2009 at 12:40 PM. |

| These are sooo true!!! I love them!!! My parents call Silvia their granddog and even carry pictures of her with them and have them at work! 30) You have professional pictures made of your dog for holidays and birthdays 31) You can't stay away overnight, because you don't want your baby to have to sleep in the dark without you

| I love this thread ! I call my Suzi my baby Suzi is my girl I make special trips jsut for her to buy her , her favorite bone! I hate leaving her alone to go to the store I am offended when someone says something mean about my Suzi I feel like I am going to be sick when she is not feeling well I worry about her if I feel something is wrong with her health I watch people when they are around her , making certain they are treating her nicely. I make certain that she is comfortable at all times when she is sleeping . I become very angry if there is any dog trying to follow us on a walk I am very overprotective of my Suzi Everything Suzi does is adorable Suzi just can't do anything wrong.
