Found my puppy today, too!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy today!!!!!!!!! I had been looking for just the right puppy. I was the one that kept posting about the year old that had ears that don't stand up. Anyway, my little weekly hometown paper came out yesterday and lo and behold!!!!!!!! There were AKC Yorkies in it just twenty minutes from my home. I paid my deposit today. He is six weeks old and perfect in every way. One of his ears about half way goes down sometimes but is usually up so the breeder was shaving it today and taping it. The breeder had two litters and all the ears are up. Even on the three week old ones. His mom is two and a half pounds and his dad is three or three and a half pounds. he is expected to mature at about three pounds. He looks like a little teddy bear. I wish I could have brought him home today but she wants to keep him until eight or ten weeks, probably ten, because he is so tiny. He also comes with a health guarantee. This breeder just moved to my area from Ohio and seems to really know her stuff. he is just what I wanted. Did I already say I am sooooo happy. I took pictures of him but don't know how to resize and post but when i figure it out, I will post his pictures. Oh, BTW, did I already say I am sooooo happy!!!!!!!!!! |
Congratulations on your little baby! |
Congrats on your new furbaby! However I hope the Dam's weight is a misprint???? I have huge concerns over anyone breeding a 2 and ahalf pound bitch  |
I can read the excitement in every single word you wrote! Congratulations!!!! Can't wait to see pictures! |
Congrats, Can't wait to see pictures. |
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm sooo jealous!!! I'm sure you will have a wonderful life together. I'm also concerned about the dams weight. I thought the female had to be past a certain weight for her to be considered for breeding. |
Yes!! We can tell you are so happy! We pick up our puppy on Saturday and I am about to burst over here! Congrats....have you named him yet? |
found my puppy No, not a misprint!!!!!!!! She is two and a half pounds. The breeder had several and none were over three pounds (females) and males were three and then one was three and a half. I know a lot of people do not bred them at this weight but apparently she has been doing it for several years with no problems. my little guy came from a litter of four and the other male she had left was even smaller than mine. She had one male full grown that weighed just a little under two pounds. She carries him around. I completely trust this breeder. I wish you all could have seen her set-up and the yorkies are very well taken care of. it was just awesome to see. The other local yorkies I had looked at were nothing like these. She gave me all kinds of contracts and papers. I paid 850. for him I have not decided on a name yet but am kind of leaning toward "Rambo". Any suggestions!!!!!!!!!! I also have to get busy preparing his nursery. I am so excited. I feel just like I did when I was awaiting the arrival of my first grandchild. I will post pictures when I figure it all out. I tried awhile ago but couldn't seem to do it. |
Are you planning to breed smaller Yorkies too ? |
Congrats on your new little baby boy! ;) |
I'm so happy for you!! Congratulations!!!! |
You sound like me! People thought I was crazy "preparing the nursery" for the puppy, but hey - nothing but the best for our babies, right? Congrats on the new puppy!!!! I'm sure you'll come up with a great name... |
Congrats on your new baby!! I just picked mine (Snickers) up this last Sunday and she is a total luv. We also Breed Great Danes and have 2. One is 5 yrs (SKY) and the other is her baby and is 9 months (Jasmine). It is so cute watching her play with them, and they have been so great with her. |
Congratulations! What a wonderful time you will have with him. I also got a nursery ready for Snoodles when I got her. It is such an exciting time. Personally I would be scared to death to breed such a small dog, but it seems to be going good for her. These tinies really have to be watched over with loving care. I am like a mother hen when it comes to Snoodles--3#1 oz. But, no one has dropped her yet, as I won't let them pick her up unless they are on the floor. Have a ball! Pat |
I'm the big black cloud gonna rain on this parade. Anyone breeding 2 1/2 lb dogs should have their head examined. 5lb dogs are easy to carry around too and you don't have to worry about all the awful health risks that are tied to breeding hamster size dogs. I will be willing to bet that the papers you got contain warnings for hypoglycemia...and are there guarantees against collapsing trachea, open fontanels, teeth issues etc..That include a financial reimbursement for vet expenses, not a replacement dog? The only bright spot here is that at least she isn't overcharging. sorry to be a downer. |
I think this is so stupid to breed 2 pounds Yorkies . Even if a breeder had a local with gold furnitures , it is stupid . I'll never buy a pup from these breeders . |
I would be really careful and maybe even reconsider. I don't want to be a downer either but we've heard too many stories of really traumatizing health issues because the breeder was trusted. We just want you to be careful and not get dooped into getting a sick puppy or a puppy that has Too much potential to get sick. I know I should be the last to talk. My baby is extremely tiny at 3 lbs but the mom was almost 5 lbs and the dad was 2 lbs. So the mom was healthy enough and had enough weight on her to be bred. I would reconsider. I know you've already fallen in love with her but just think about things. |
Yes, check out the dog really good. A visit to the vet is in order the minute you get him. My Snoodles is 3# but her mother was a good 7# and the father was about 5#. Even at that, she has knee problems and will eventually need surgery. I am just hesitant to have it done because of her size. She isn't hurting right now, anyway. But this is some of the problems that come up with the tinies! Pat |
Congratulations! Have the Nutrical on hand for such a tiny one, and definetely have him checked by a vet ASAP. Did the breeder give you any references...especially a vet reference? The vet reference was the most valuable call I made when deciding to get my little boy. |

Eventually, I will. But not anytime soon. There is a big demand for them in Kentucky. They are so hard to find. I have a lot to learn and want to make sure I have done all the proper research and etc. I want to be an excellant breeder with quality pups. My babies will be well taken care of. I also will screen my homes that they go to. My husband will be a huge asset to me since he has bred and trained Field Champions for well over thirty years. His dogs are like our family and mine will be, too. |

Nope, can't insult me today. Just try to be happy for me okay. |

I'm happy for you Well, it looks like you have done the research, and are aware of any pitfalls and are willing to do what you need to do for your new baby. I agree with some of the others, that there are problems with the smaller Yorkies with health issues, but since you seem to know what you are getting yourself into, I say "Go for it -- and more power to you!" It is your puppy and if you are happy that's all that is important. So I am happy for you! I, for one, even prefer the larger Yorkies. Maybe because that is what my daughter has and what I am used to. But the smaller ones just look like puppies all the time, so it would be nice to have one that looks like a puppy forever. Just like having kids. It would be nice if you could keep them little and never let them grow up! Course we have litters periodically, so we get to have babies around a lot. anyway, stick around and post pics of your new baby when you get him. |

I know that there are a lot of Yorkies on this site that are very tiny! Some are around 2-3 lbs. Some people want a tiny baby and some want the standards. My baby will probably be around 4-5 lbs. and I am happy with that. You will be such a good mommy. I can already tell. I know he will be in good hands and be a very healthy baby . Good luck!!! Joy, Nikki, and Chloe Rose :rose: :wavey: :congrats: :yorkiesar |
found my puppy Thank you for your kind words!!!!!!!!!! My baby looks just like Chloe's picture that is under your name only his ears are up. same exact markings right now but I understand that probably will change as he gets older. Isn't it funny how they all look alike when they are babies. Wonder why that is? |
