How many of your yorkies.. Since beginning potty training with Lucas, and since being on YT, I have noticed that a lot of people use pee pads for the yorkies' entire lives and don't have them go outside. I'm just wondering who takes their baby out, and who has them go inside?? |
I prefer that mine go out.....and take them out as often as possible, but I do have a pee pee pad down at the front door just incase...... |
I have 4(going on 5) inside that all use pee pads. |
I have 2 yorkies- one goes out and one goes in  Actually Mo will use a pad to poop but he usually goes outside for both. Mayzie goes out with Mo to sniff the air and then comes inside to use her pad  |
My puppy only goes outside. His breeder told me if I wanted him to potty outside, to never get started using pee pads in the house. He is perfectly potty trained now, hasn't had an accident in the house in almost six months. He just turned a year old and I am very pleased he is fully house broken! :D |
Apple uses the puddle pad, or somewhere near the puddle pad , but if we happen to be outside, and she needs to go, she goes...I got Apple at @ 11 weeks, and I work, so it was out of necessity...I've always trained my pups, successfully, to go outside, but circumstances are different now (I work), so puddle pads it is Love, Maggie & Apple :aimeeyork xoxoxox |
We use puppy pads, and take Snoopy out. He does not do rain, so using the puppy pads is very convenient. ;) |
My four go outside:)thank goodness for fenced in yards:) |
Precious goes both outside & on a pee pad. In bad weather she won't even step outside. Princess is still learning so she goes outside, on a peepad & unfortunately on the rug. |
Genghis was going outside with perfection till we got him neutered, the day after he pee'd on our bed along with 2 other placed I frequent throughout the day, naughty boy! I think he's over it now as he has been going outside again. We used to have a pee pad in our room cause we didn't think he could make it, but he now has his own pee patio and goes out there when he needs to go. |
Lil' Miss Izzie uses her potty pads indoors during the day, on the weekends when she can come/go outside through her doggie door she will sometimes go out on the patio on the bricks (I don't have any grass) but she is mostly 100% potty pads indoors. When we go for walks she will go on the grass. |

Outside. I've never liked the idea of having pee or poop in the house PERIOD, whether it be on a pad or not. lol. I had never even heard of dogs (besides puppies) using pee pads their whole life until this website. I must say - I can see how it can be really convenient. You don't have to worry as much about rushing home if you've been gone for over 6 hours to let your dog out. But I don't know - I just prefer to have him go outside. |
Sasha goes outside to potty of course taking me along lol. I don't have a fenced in yard so I go out with her every time. It makes me feel better being out with her anyways, plus I don't mind. |
I use pee pads, I had every intention of training her to go outside but when I got her the weather was so bad even I didnt want to go outside, expecially at 2 and 4 am... Laci hates the rain and just stands there and shivers so this was my only solution, I hope when the weather gets nice she will go outside more often... |

Meg is paper trained and that is what we mainly use since we live in a high-rise apartment, but she also goes outside when we are on walks. She's not picky: grass, sand, pavement.... She even pooped while squatting on the curb once. Her little bum was hanging right over the edge of the curb, so the poops had quite a fall. It was so funny. |
Mine use the potty pads inside. I got the washable pads and they are great. It was winter here when I got them so they go inside. Right now they haven't got all their shots. The last time I took them outside they got ticks on them. To young for any meds for ticks too. |
Mine use the pads during the cold months and go out during the warm months. It it didn't get so cold and the snow didn't get so deep I would have them go out all the time as they like it and they seem to do much better with it. |
I'm actually trying to make the switch from outdoor pottying to going inside on pee pads. Lol! Roxie is such a prissy little girl. It's still cold here in Utah, so when I let her out, she stays on my porch and does her business there. She absolutely refuses to walk down into the snow or the cold wet grass. I hate having to get the hose out and spray down my porch in 30 degree weather.. ahh. Does anyone use litter boxes?? I've been considering it.. |
I also use pee pads... i'm in school so on certain days, i'm gone quite a few hours.. if i try to take them out on my off days, it just confuses them... |
Missy's uses peepads only. She's the first dog that I've owned who's used them. When she came home as a puppy she was already using them. Because of her small size and the cold weather and snow, I thought it was best to just continue with them throughout the winter. Now, I am finding them so convenient that I don't think I'll bother transitioning her to outdoors. I mean, she does go pee or poop outside if we happen to be outdoors when she has to go, but otherwise the pads work great for us. If I could only find some kind of a tray to use for underneath the pads, then I would be happy. |
Hubby would freak if I "allowed" Mia to pee in the house so she is in process of potty training and so far *knocks on wood* so good. She's been barking to go out for the last two days now, I'm so proud, and only one mistake yesterday and today has been accident free! I was very afraid because I am from Winnipeg and I got her when we were having a -35 deep freeze but she did it (and quickly, lol)! I'm looking forward to summer and standing outside with her in nice weather, lmao! |
Since we get allot of rain and also due to having field hawks close, we choose to use the washable pee pads. She gets two clean pads a day and so far it's worked for us. :) |

We use pee pads for during the day while we're at work only while potty training so if they can't hold it at least the pad is there. However, as they get potty trained they use the pads less and less through the day while we're gone and eventually we just take them away. |
Annie has used disposable pee pee pads since we got her as a puppy. She's four now and will go outside if she happens to be out. Its more convenient for me to have her use them. If I have to be gone for awhile, I don't worry about leaving her home alone. |
Who is trained 1 Attachment(s) I take Zipper out as he doesn't ask to go out but who would we had another 2 inches of snow this morning. My 17 year old asks to go out but she can hold it 6 hours or so. Zip has to go every 2 hours or we have accidents. When I take him out he always peas but he only poops first thing in am and again in early afternoon and again after eating in pm.....it is getting the poops on schedule that is tricky. I am down to about one accident a day and I know if there wasn't a staircase and 15 stairs I'd leave door open...legs will grown soon I hope! |
We are strictly indoors on Potty Pads. I was always VERY afraid to let him go outdoors because he wasn't fully vaccinated when I got him plus it was November and really cold. Now I just don't want him out to do anything unless it's for a walk, and he doesn't potty so often that it annoys me at all. Then there is the fact that... Our front yard isn't fenced and there are lots of stray dogs so I am not feeling totally safe with that, and I have my bigger dogs kenneled in the back so obviously there would be germs from their waste back there. I like the fact that he is mostly indoors but if we were outside and he had to go .. he would. |
Bingo go's outside... Minnie is only 12 weeks and doesn't have all her vaccinations to go outside but I take her out on my arms...I think it is important for them to go out and get fresh air and they do need exercise the more stimulation they get the less active and wild they are indoors...I can't wait to put Minnie on a leash....:) |
