Continued from post above... 4 Attachment(s) I've included some pictures of her and will send more later on. It is hard for me to even leave the room because if I walk out of there for even 2 seconds, hubby says she starts crying. She is such a mommies girl. P.S. - Her blood tests came back normal, thank GOD! There was one thing on there that he said was high (can't even remember what it was), but he said that it was nothing to be concerned about. I also had him do a Thyroid tests because as some of you may remember from some of my previous threads, I was concerned about this with her as she has been losing hair lately (which I now feel is due to her horrible allergies) - as her Thyroid tests came back totally normal as well. Thank you JESUS! Here is my little Lion/Poodle/Schnauzer/Yorkie  I wanted to totally shave her down before her surgery, but hubby didn't want me to (why did I ever listen to him?). Please continue with the prayers for her....she still has a very LONG road ahead and her surgeon sounded very concerned, especially with that left leg. Also - we will be going back on the 13th so that he can remove her sutures and she will also start her first official physical therapy with a physical therapist. Once we go see her, she will teach me (more in detail) of what exactly I need to be doing with her here at home. A few weeks later, she will go back for more x-rays to check her bones and the pins to make sure that they aren't broken. I'm just PRAYING!! I will post more pictures later and I will also try to get a video of her. Whenever I am able to get a video of her, I will let everyone know. Thanks again you guys...I love you ALL. |

Hi Brooke, you don't know me but I just wanted to tell you that I have been following your touching story, and am praying so much for Tatum (and YOU!). What a sweet little doll she is. Thank you for sharing the pictures and update. With continued prayers! Cheryl |
Wow - she has been thru so much. Prayers for her healing & for you. What a long time to be confined to a crate. Praying everything goes perfectly with her therapy & rehabilitation. And that she & Stedman do ok apart :( |
Glad to hear from you Brooke........ understand why you haven't posted..... I KNOW what it's all about and how busy you are. Her stitches look wonderful.... nice and clean. Hopefully in a few days, you will start seeing her get some more strength... then WATCH out. Shelby was a big pain in the butt. She wanted to run and play like nothing happened..... and it was very difficult to keep her confined. I felt like a BIG MEANY!! :p But ya gotta do what the doc says!..... Tatum will LOVE PT. Shelby had ultrasound therapy, laser therapy, and aquatic therapy (treadmill in a fish tank ... that is what I called it! ). Then she also had the heat and cold packs after therapy. One thing that our therapist did was put a little PURE lavender oil on the tips of her ears. Sounds silly, but it really relaxed Shelby.... after about 2 minutes she was much more at ease. This was done before PT. (Good pure Lavender oil can be purchased at GNC) ANYWAY, hope you are doing well....... if ya want to talk, PM me, and I can give you a call! :) |
awwww Brooke....Thank you so much for taking the time to share Tatum's story with us, especially with all that's going on. I had tears, reading about what our little sweetheart is going through & then smiles and giggles about the true Love & Devotion from her & Stedman & her Mommie/Daddie through all this. It definitely sounds like she had a truly wonderful surgeon. Bella & I send our Love:2hearts2: & Prayers:hands: that Tate will have a full recovery! Take care little one:aimeeyork.....you are in good hands!!;) |
Thanks for the update, I was in tears and laughing all at the same time, your description of Steddy giving her kisses was so sweet, and the little piglet eating KFC cracked me up. Tatum has lots of angels looking out for her, and I just pray her surgery will be a success. That little sweetheart must be a tough cookie to have not shown any more pain than she did before surgery. I know you said she had good and bad days, but after hearing the surgeon's description, I'm surprised she had any good days. Glad you are home and prayer for a speedy recovery. Glad you found such a wonderful caring surgeon. |

So glad that little Tater Tot is doing well! Keep us updated on her, I'll be thinking of you both! I have to say I love her little tail in her lion/schnauzer/yorkie haircut!!! :) |
Brooke... I'm so sorry that Tatum is having a hard time but thank God she came through the surgery without any complications. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. |
Brooke, I am so glad that little Tate's surgery went well!! What a special girl she is!! I know it must be so hard seeing her in pain. She looks great, shaved butt and all and I am so happy to hear she is progressing well!! What a sweet story about her and Stedman. Keeping up the good work and being the excellent mommy you are and she will be better in no time!! Wishing Tatum a speedy and full recover!! Give her lots of extra hugs and kisses for me!!:wub: Thanks for giving us all an update!! |
Don't know how this happened. Sorry! |
OH Brooke, I'll be thinking of you! Glad she's home and improving! |
I am so glad that Tatum is doing well and home from her surgery. You are such a good mommy to your babies and I just know you are taking extra wonderful care of Tat. As for those meds, I have been giving Bogey his meds in a little cream cheese and it works really well. I stick the pill in the middle and make a little ball and down it goes! It works better than than any other trick I have tried. |
SO glad to hear an update on sweet Tatum- keep them coming- I've been thinking about her all day- hope tomorrow is a great day for you both. |
I'm glad she is doing well, Brooke. She's a cute little lion. :) |
Just want to let you know I'm sending Tat well wishes and I'm here for you. I went through the same thing with Gracie about 1 1/2 years ago now. It does kill you to see them like that. I still cry when I look at Gracie's post-op pictures. But one thing I learned is this experience will make you even closer to little Tat. You can't care for a pup like that and not feel an extra special bond. I wish you much patience and hope Tat recovers well. |
Brooke I am soooo happy to hear that Tator Tot is on the mend..OMG I have been thinking about your baby for weeks since you posted her surgery. I am so glad that she is home with you and on the mend. Love you both....hugs..:D |
glad to hear everything went well! still a lot to worry about but shes a strong little ADORABLE girl and she'll be just fine :) |
Oh so glad to hear that little Tatum is home with you safe and sound and on the mend! Hopefully her aftercare will get easier each day for you Brooke as you become more and more familiar with the routine and Tatum begins to feel better. |
Thinking of you , Tatum and hubby, hope her road to recovery is sucessful and quick... she is such a cutie! |
awww, poor lil Tate, she looks like that she has on a fur jacket! glad that she made through the surgery ok. we will be praying for her! |
Brooke, I'm so glad to here that Tate is back in the comfort of her home. I'm sure that's why she wouldn't eat and drink...I can just imagine her scarfing down the chicken legs, poor thing. And I bet poor Steddy was wondering what was going on being away from y'all for so long. Those two are just too sweet, they love each other. I'm sending you and Tate thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Big Hugs. |
Brooke, I'm sorry I just saw this thread. I'm so glad the surgery went well and will keep you all in my prayers thru sweet little Tate's recovery. Being home with her family is the best medicine. HUGS!! |
Today's Update... 4 Attachment(s) Thank you all so much for your very sweet and kind replies...I just cried reading some of them  I am trying to pop in as much as I can, but boy have I been soo busy. Not to mention, little Missy doesn't like it when I leave the room  She is doing ok...she has been sleeping alot. She is still having a pretty hard time walking, but we are working with her on that. Her 2nd round of Physical Therapy for the day I am going to start in just a little while, but I wanted to pop in with a small update and some pictures first. She still isn't touching her dog food - not one spec. She hasn't had a single piece of kibble since this past Tuesday at about 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the hotel I did get her to eat a little canned food that I brought with me, but she didn't have much (she was very uncomfortable being in a new place - the hotel). So, Friday on our way back home I stopped at the grocery store and bought some chicken legs (and chicken breasts as well) and I boiled them for her yesterday. She had two chicken legs (minus the skin and bones of course) yesterday and one so far today. I will offer her another one a little while after physical therapy (she has to rest directly afterwards). She did eat some carrots (her all time favorite) and a little vanilla ice cream as well. At this point I am just trying to get her to eat whatever she will allow me to put in her mouth. And that's another thing...she is being a little princess and will only be hand-fed :p No slouching over a bowl for HER thank you VERY much! One thing I have been really worried about though is that she has not pooped since Wednesday evening at the hotel. I have tried and tried to get her to go...but, you can only "try" so much, you can't force it out of them. So, I was thinking of what I could give her to try and make her go, but I thought that I had better call her surgeon at home and ask him first just to be on the safe side. Thank God I did. He told me that it is actually very normal that she isn't pooping. He told me not to give her anything at all - that it could only make things worse. He said that she should go on her own by Wednesday, and if she doesn't to call him back and let him know. He is so sweet and asked how she was doing and how she has been walking on her legs. He asked if she was eating and drinking water and she has been...so all is good there. That's the update for now...but I will be back later or tomorrow with another one. Here are some pictures of her that I thought you all might enjoy. The first one is one that I took today while she was laying in her little house. My poor little angel looks pitiful  She really is not a very happy girl right now  The next 4 pictures are ones that I took with my cell phone and I forgot to send them to Denise so that she could post them. These pictures were taken on Wednesday when we went and ate at the park. After we were told that she wasn't going to be having the surgery on Wednesday after all, we went back to the hotel to check in and the darn room wasn't even ready yet, so we had to go kill and hour or two and we had no idea what to do because Tatum HATES being in the car....so we needed to get her OUT. We decided to grab something to eat because hubby and I were starving, so we picked up food at went to a really nice park and had lunch. Tate ran around and played on her leash but when it came time for hubby and I to start eating, we got out Tate's crate and put her in it so that she wouldn't escape or try to run off. So the last 4 pictures are of her just sitting in her little crate on the table at the park watching mommy and daddy eat and letting the wind blow through her hair :) She was also watching a little boy play basketball, lol...it was so cute. Ok, gotta go start her physical therapy....love you guys...and I will be back with another update either later tonight or tomorrow. P.S. - Would love to hear from those of you who's babies have had LP surgery....how long did it take them to poop afterwards??? |
1 Attachment(s) Last pic  |
Bless that little angel...I wish her all the luck and love in the world for a fast and problem free recovery. Thanks for the update...I have been thinking about you. hugs from Pixie & me:aimeeyork |
Bless her sweet little heart, I am praying it all goes well. Brooke, I never had one that had knee surgery but when it comes to 'poop' it is the same as with humans, when you are on pain medication you don't because it does constipate you. |
praying the eating and pooing improves :) -- I wouldn't want to be left alone either. She certainly does know she is the princess and that makes you her....lady-in-waiting - at the very most I suppose :p |
