| My normally sweet yorkie changes into a .. Suzi just turned a yr old on March 3 . I have taken her to a groomer a few times , because she is better behaved for Ryan then me. Now, anytime I even try to do something as simple as trim her nails she fights me, then she gets away and acts fearful. She will have nothing to do with me. As if I hurt her I've not even been able to touch her with the clippers. She has a way of making me feel so badly now, I am thinking of having to call Ryan , just to have him give Suzi a shampoo and nail timming Friday. Her nails are long enough to leave a good scratch on me, and has made me even bleed ... Suzi and I are close, and she always follows me everywhere. Why is she behaving like this? As fas as I know nothing traumatic has ever happened to her? She does not act like that with Ryan Why me? She is my baby? Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

| Maybe she does not feel well. Has she had a checkup recently? |

BANNED FOR NOT SENDING A GE GIFT! | acting fearful Trevor acts like too, only he gives me "that" look, and whines when he see's the brush. I admit, we have had some not so good experiences, but I really think he knows which buttons to push with me, and knows I'll stop if he acts that way.....little stinker |

| Give her treats while you are grooming your dog. I saw the dog trainer recommend an owner do that on It's Me Or The Dog. Feeding the dog helps to create a positive grooming experience for the dog. Last edited by JoshieBoy; 03-30-2009 at 02:26 PM. |

| She is not ill .... I think her and I are just too close and Suzi does know how to push my buttons. I like the treat idea.. However, she will only sit as long as the treats are there... She is quite the stinker. LOL. I guess i'll have to leave it to the professionals. Ryan always tells me that she is great with him. I guess it is worth the $50-$60 for a good groom .

They have us over a barrel, so to speak. We are too afraid of hurting them and since they don't want to do something, they DO push our buttons. I was afraid of prying Bonnie's mouth open to give her meds, because she struggled so. I was afraid she was going to snap her own neck trying to get away from me. Finally, I found that if I just held on to her chin hair (I know, sounds mean -but better than a snapped neck) I could put that dropper right in her mouth. | |

| Pao fights me if I do his nails but a groomer with lots of experience is able to do it. He had bad experience before with a groomer who made almost all 18 nails bled with me holding him so he was bleeding on to me. I wonder if that experience made me feel anxious without me knowing it when I clip his nails hence he doesn't trust me in doing it or simply because I am his Mommy.
