| Is it time to Spay............ My Bella will be 9 months old the first of April. I noticed she is licking her "private" so I looked. It's swollen and a little red. Everything else, behavior, is normal. She's my first Yorkie and dog. Can anyone with more experience tell me what's going on? Thanks in Advance! Marcie |

| Well, she is most probably coming into heat. Most vets recommend spaying Yorkies before the first heat depending on size but some say wait til they are full grown. I would not spay until at least 6 weeks after this heat is done.

| Should I have the Vet look at her tomorrow and then schedule surgery 6 weeks from tomorrow? Also, when I first took her to the Vet, the Vet mentioned that they would probably remove "some of her teeth" during her spay surgery. I'm not gonna put her through that. Do you know what she was talking about? |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | About the teeth thing ,yorkies have tiny mouths and sometimes the second teeth come through before their milk teeth come out causing pain and maybe infection. The teeth are removed while they are under being spayed to save on a second op. Hope this helps.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sounds like she is coming into heat. That was the first sign that Cali was coming into heat. Your vet can advise you when it is safe to spay her and the puppy teeth should come out at the same time. It doesn't really bother them and it saves problems down the road.
