| Newbie here...long intro Hi all, Thanks for allowing me to join your group. I have always wanted a Yorkie, but i live in my daddy's rental house and have a landscaped front/backyard so he really didn't want me to have a dog that would "tear up" the yard. I have a 21yr daughter (dd) that is a good girl and has never given me any trouble, she is in college to become a nurse (like her mom) and has a wonderful boyfriend. She lives with me. We have a rabbit named Crackers who has a 2 story cage and is spoiled rotten My dd takes such good care of him. We also have 2 fish tanks. When i was a girl i had a Cocker Spaniel who my mom (who is scared of ANYTHING that moves) and a friend of hers went to the pound and got for me as i had always wanted a dog but my dad would tell me no. So after the divorce dad moved out and i got a dog. So the dog was named Lady and she was so pretty, also we didn't know she was pregnant so one night she had 4 puppies in my closet! Thank goodness she knew what to do as i had NO clue! She was a great mom. When i moved to my dad's i had to leave her there with my mom and younger brother as dad would still not let me have a dog. I did find out that mom gave her to a woman who had a big farm so i know Lady went to a good home and was happy. I was so sad to have to leave her, but that is a whole different post So, since my dd is my dad's "precious baby" and the ONLY g'child for 10yrs she is pretty much spoiled so when my dd asked me yet again to have a dog i said to ask her poppy (my dad) and he said YES....i was like "what the heck you NEVER let me have one!" He claims that my dd has shown (with her bunny) that she is a responsible pet owner and i was not when i was younger and he would have been "stuck" taking care of any animal i got. I can argue that BUT i'm over it So for the last 6 months my dd and i have been researching Yorkies and one day at the pet store i saw a girl that had the cutest Yorkie on a pink leash, i asked her where she got her dog and she said her brother's Yorkie and that he had just had another litter a few days ago! WOW!!! So i got her number and told her to tell her brother that i was interested in them. She said they didn't have papers, but i don't want to breed my dog so i didn't care about that. So, i ended up meeting this brother and saw the mom and dad. You could tell they loved animals. This is the mom's 2nd litter and he is retiring her as of this litter. He told me that he was selling them for $700.00 no papers. Now i'm on disability after being hurt on the job (was hurt on 2002) i have 4 torn disks in my neck and now have nerve damage in my rt hand/arm and have upper back pain, migraines. So yea $$$ is tight right now. My dd gets $$ for college and she gets quite a bit as i don't make nearly what i did while working. So, i told him i might have a prb with the price, now as we are talking my dd is down on the floor with the puppies (4) and one keeps climbing in her arms and falls asleep there. She says "this is MY baby" The guy says "i can tell you are animal lovers and i KNOW this puppy is going to a GOOD home so how about $200.00?" My dd pulls the $$$ out of her pocket (i had no idea she had went to the bank and had $700.00 on her at that time) I'm so proud of my dd, from then on she was on the internet doing her research, she called different vets. Now since i'm considered "low income" i can get the vaccines and micro chip for almost free (we have a HIGH rate of Yorkies being stolen here in Calif, so we decided to get the puppy chipped) But my dd said "mom, i will pay for the vaccines and chip and i want to go to a vet." She is awesome!! Well, last Saturday we got our "baby" her name is Sweet Pea and she was 12wks old. We took her to the vet on Monday and she had her 1st check-up (the guy we got her from got her the 1st series of puppy shots) the vet said she was in excellent health! We are so exicted to have Sweet Pea and love her and spoil her so much already! Nicole Ps, how do you add those cute "tags" to the bottom of the post. Thank You |

| Hi Nicole, DD and Sweet Pea! Would love to see pictures when you can post some. Scroll down to the All Else section there is a forum called YorkieTalk How To Guide. There's a lot of good info there. There's a Test Forum that you can try out things to see how it looks and also the Site Suggestion / Comments / Question forum where you can ask questions and a lot of very helpful people can give you directions.

| Hi and welcome to YT. Great story about how Sweet Pea came to be your new baby. Your DD sounds like a very responsible young lady. You must be very proud of her. Can't wait to see pictures of Sweet Pea. Your dad needn't worry about his landscaping, just make sure to train Sweet Pea the "outta the flower beds" command - lol, that's what I say to them when the wander into them). Works everytime.

| Nicole, You and I are going to become great friends - we have a lot in common. Those cute little things you refer to can be added by accessing your User CP. It is called a signature. Very easy. Just look up to the blue bar - it is on the far left. You two sound like you are going to be great owners! The only thing that concerns me is........What are you going to do when dd moves out on her own in a couple of years? You are going to have to demand split custody! LOL |
