| Stung by a Red Wasp! help! Lulu was stung on the back leg by a red wasp and has cried for 5 minutes. Is there something i can give her or put on it? Will she be okay? She weighs 2.8 lbs. and is almost 7 months old.

| Aww, poor baby. That happened to Zander but on his paw. I gave him some benadryl, check with your vet for the amount, it's been a while so I don't remember. Good luck.

| AAAwwww first of all to little Lulu. Those things HURT! Check to see if the stinger is still there, if it is use your fingernail to scrape it out. Next clean the stinger puncture with a bit of peroxide. You can use several things to help -- benadryl ointment, meat tenderizer made into a paste, ammonia (stinky, but it works) a cold compress, if you "chew" I have always heard that chewing tobacco will take the sting out of a bug bite. I hope she gets to feeling better real soon, if she starts to show any unusual swelling or has trouble swallowing or breathing, then hi-tail it to the emergency vet. |

| I don't have any benedryl, but she seems okay now. I think she stepped on it because she keeps licking the pad and won't step on it. She is stuck to me like glue. She whnes on and off. Can I give her children's motrin?

| I'd be calling my vet ... I am so sorry for your little Lulu. i'd be concerned for allergic reactions.

| Baby asprin is ok, but I would check with the vet on motrin. I know tylanol is a big NO. Put together a yorkie first aid kit ( baby asprin, children's benadryl, hydrogen peroxide(to induce vomiting) etc) Then ask your vet the dosage for your baby and write it on the bottle in black sharpie. That way you will be ready for non-emergency situations. Keep us up-dated... Last edited by Sweetlips6; 03-25-2009 at 02:51 PM. |

| Okay, my neighbor had benedryl. I gave her 2 mg. She isn't having any trouble breathing, but won't stand on her foot and is whimpering on and off. She can't get comfy to go to sleep. I feel so sorry for her. I read not to give motrin or tylenol, so I didn't.

| My Bonnie was stung by a honey bee a week ago. (she chased it down and stepped on it) But I would think a wasp would hurt worse, poor baby. I just saw a thread on here yesterday about all the things to have handy. (and I think the dosages) If I see it again I will post it for you. It seems like it was posted by wileysmom. |

| Thank you for asking! She is sound asleep right now and has been for about 20 minutes. She is on a pillow right next to me and I won't get up until she wakes up. Everytime I leave the room she automatically gets up to go with me, so right now I really want her to rest. She lets me touch her paw and feel her leg, and doesn't mind, and it doesn't appear to be too swollen. It took her a while to settle down and find a comfy position, but she finally did. I just never knew I could love a dog so much. She has just taken hold of my heart.

| OHHHHHHHHHHHHH your poor baby!!! I got stung near my eye last year by one of those and the pain was horrible for days. I felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat. Make sure the stinger is out or the pain and swelling will not go away. Then get some old fashioned crest toothpaste and put on the sting to draw the poison out. do this several times a day. Good luck hon. |
