| Never came in heat? Hi, I may be getting a yorkie from a lady I work with. The lady's mother had just passed away last week and they're looking for someone to take care of the mother's yorkie. Since I have one she asked if I was interested. I was, of course! There was a lot of convincing the hubby though. Anyway, he brought up a good point (and I'm usually the smart one). He wanted to make sure that the dog was healthy. The yorkie is a 1 year and 2 months old. The lady said she's had all her shots and is perfectly healthy. The only strange thing is she's not spayed because she hasn't come in heat. I guess they thought that they had to wait for her 1st heat to have her spayed. Now is this heard of that a one year old dog has not come in heat yet? I'm just worried that this may be a sign of an illness or something. |

| It could be a hormonal or developmental problem, but she could just be a very late maturing yorkis too. I know some yorkies don't come into heat until around a year

| We had a female Pomeranian for 15 years who never had a heat. Vet said it was not uncommon but she was very healthy otherwise. |
