I must be missing something here. Yesterday on another thread you posted this: Quote:

OMG! I was completely stupefied after reading your post! I have never heard of such a shocking thing in all of my life. I would definitely take Stormy asap as others have said to another vet. Also writing everything down as another suggested is a good idea too. After getting Stormy the care that she needs started; I would contact whatever the agency is called that is the vet equivalent of the medical licensing board and lodge a complaint. Perhaps, yours is not the first nor only complaint. I would then consult with an attorney only after you've received a "diagnosis" of Stormy's condition and if the delay in proper treatment has harmed her. Then, an attorney can probably let you know whether you have a case or not. In the meantime, you could warn anyone you know with a pet not to use this vet and why. You could twitter it. As long as it is factual; it is not slander nor libel. I cannot believe that someone who became a vet could be so heartless to be both Stormy and yourself. I wish you all the best with Stormy. |
While I am sorry for what you had to go through but if Stormy is able to be fix, this is definitely a blessing. Stormy has been given a second chance hopefully. The handling of this whole situation has been less than professional but Stormy is still alive and for that I am even grateful for. At this point, hopefully this vet didn't give you any false hopes, if she can be fix and if's money you are worry about maybe the folks here on YT can start a donation fund for Stormy to help with expenses. |

She brought Stormy in sick, A vet told her nothing could be done for Stormy she was in pain and suffering and recommended putting her down immediately. She made the PAINFUL decision to have Stormy put down but decided not to stay in the room while it was actually done. She said her goodbyes to Stormy and went home. 5 hours later she got a phone call that Stormy was not put down yet and a DIFFERENT vet told her he thought he could save her, IF she would sign her over to him. She was told they were too busy to put Stormy down for 5 hours, so she was in a cage and suffering (like they told her) for 5 hours. (maybe she was not suffering, but the vet told her she was and that was the last she knew) Yes its wonderful that Stormy is still alive, yes its wonderful that her condition may be able to be treated, but HOW does a vets office not get around to putting a suffering animal down for 5 hours??? How do they tell her there is nothing she/they can do for Stormy, make her make the AWFUL decision of putting her beloved pet down and then TAKE IT ALL BACK 5 hours later?? The whole situation may have been not done on purpose, but there was a lot of animal and human suffering there. This vets office seems more disorganized than shady honestly (they could have kept stormy but they did call her) ... but either way.... this girl has the right to be upset. You would be too if you had to make such a painful decision and then be told it was all for nothing. Its heart wrenching. |

I am so sorry you have to go through this. Is it possible that Stormy could have eaten something that perforated her bowel? We went through this with Ziggy in January-main symptoms were not eating/drinking/pooping, vomitting, fever, excessive sleeping, big hard belly and blood on bottom. He was in and out of the vet a few times before we opted for exploratory surgery and the vet found many perforations in his bowel. His belly was fully of liquid and feces. She was able to repair the damage after a long and expensive surgery and he is back to normal now. We will never know what caused the damage. I would ask the vet who wants to keep her what he thinks is wrong with her since he feels that he can save her. Definitely a second opinion is in order and some pain meds for that poor baby! Where in Canada are you located? |
Hi, I am also saddened. Shocked is more the word. I wonder if the new vet thought he could save her or just use her for something else, more sinister. God I hope not. When you go to the new vet, you might NOT want to tell him what the other vets have told you. Give him a blank page to work with, then if he orders some of the same test you can assume that mabe he knows what he's talking about. Now if he goes in the opposite direction of what you've been told then you can tell him the HELL you have been thru. I wouldn't mention the other vets name UNTIL he has told you what he thinks is wrong and what he plans to do about it. That is when you can break out all of your paperwork of what HAS been done and what was SUGGESTED, to put her down and the rest of the horrible story. When you are satisfied with his findings and treatment, GO AFTER THE FIRST VET WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE, TO THE NEWSPAPER AND ANYPLACE YOU CAN THINK OF. HITTING HIM WHERE IT HURTS....HIS WALLET... God Bless You, In my Prayers. Sharon, PIXI & SPIKE.. |
I think we all go to our vets hoping to be able to trust them. I certainly know that when I go, I don't want to second guess what they are telling me - what would be the purpose in going? If you have taken your precious baby to your vet, she is suffering greatly - which it sounds like Stormy was - and the vet suggests that "putting her to sleep" is the best and most humane thing to do, most people would follow their vet's advice. To suggest that this OP should have done otherwise is mean and cruel.... |
Could the OP please update on what is going on w/ Stormy? For multiple reasons, this thread and the other one is very concerning. Is Stormy back with you or still at the vet? What is the diagnosis and prognosis? |

That is what happen. We had a very busy weekend with family over. Stormy is very shy and happen to stay in bed the whole day Sunday. That is common for her when people are around. She has been having a problem with her eye for the past couple weeks. We were in two weeks ago and she was acting the same way as she was yesterday so I had brought her in and it turned out it was an ulcher on her eye, after a couple days she was back to normal. Yesterday she started to act a bit strange. I am easily worried and since I was home by myself I started to freak out because we have had some scares with her. The only thing I could think of was rush her in to the vet so I did. I told him I don't want her suffering any more if theres something more serious wrong with her then I don't want to make her keep going through this. He checked her over, said she has blood in her anal cavity (strange because she was not pooping blood earlier that day) I had first thought she had low blood sugar as her gums were pale greyish, I gave her nutrical before I left for the vet. He told me that she was in CRITICAL CONDITION and that he could do a bunch of tests to try and figure out what was wrong but he said he doesn't think theres anything he can do for her, he said she was DYING! He suspected she had blood in her chest, he thought it was in her stomach as well, he stuck needles in her trying to see if he could find blood which he couldn't find any! He said we should put her down because shes suffering and we could waste hundreds but theres no guarantee because she was in SUCH BAD SHAPE. This is all what he was saying. Now that I think about it she's very scared at the vets, they had two people holding her down and doing all these too her, she must of been very scared and stressed out. I opted to put her down because I thought that was the best thing to do, my mother was there also and said she would TAKE HER HOME and he said that wasn't a good idea! 5 hours later they call me because ANOTHER vet looked at her and thought that it wasn't serious enough to put her to sleep. He said since money is an issue for me he would fix her up and keep her. Money IS an issue if he was wanting all these things done to her if they were for no reason. She would be DEAD ALREADY if she was in such BAD shape. She is home now and after a nights rest she is feeling better, I can tell she is sore and extra cuddly, but she is SO happy to be home. She's ate, drank and went poop fine WITHOUT blood. I have been to the vet more times in the past 6 months then people go probably in two years. Just because I am not rich doesn't mean I have to give my dog away. I am doing the best I can for her and I don't need some rude people telling me I wanted to KILL MY DOG. I SAVED THIS DOG FROM A BAD SITUATION if you don't know the story don't comment. I am hurt over this whole thing. I have just gotten up now after being up with her all night, she is not acting funny at all and seems to be fine and normal now that she is home. The vet from last night said he thinks she could possibly have the blood problem from allergies or even a parasite. He was more concerned about her nose because he said he would fix it up. Well her nose is fine and is the least of my worries at the moment! |

Excuse me who the heck do you think you are? I didn't want to STAY IN THE ROOM AND WATCH THEM PUT MY DOG TO SLEEP. That doesn't make me a bad person. I, myself could not handle watching something like that, I couldn't handle watching ANY dog being put down. I opted to leave so I didn't want to watch it happen. and from my understanding they were doing the procedure THEN. We said our goodbyes and they took her away. 5 hours later I get a call that they didn't do it because they got busy and another vet had seen her! I went in thinking of one thing wrong with her and was told another thing by the vet. |
I am sooo happy that little Stormy is feeling better. What a horrible ordeal you had to go through with. Don't ever worry what other people think, no one knows your situation unless they walk in your shoes. Your main concern right now is getting Stromy healthy. I have been pulling for him since I heard about his little nose. Sooo glad he is ok now. Don't get upset about other comments. Your baby needs you to be strong for him, I know you will be. What a little miracle boy. God bless him!! What happened, happened move forward not backward, your main concern is that little guy's health. Please keep us updated as to his condition, we care !! |

Thank you very much but Stormy is a female lol |
So sorry, my bad, I just was getting so upset that you were upset. |
So have you or are you going to take him to another vet? I am really sorry you went through all this. |
oh my god, i cannot belive i have just read this, get another vet to look at your baby, and i would take that vet to court how he has treated you the stress, the upset of it all, i had shivers run down my back, please make that vet suffer like he has you and your family, my thoughts are with you my love, god bless. xx |
All I can say is WOW!:eek: I am so sorry that you had to deal with stupid people like that, I have worked for about 6 different vets, and never in their right mind have i ever witnessed something as cruel as you just told us all! |
No worries. I am very stressed out with this whole situation. I tried to call them but there is no manager in at the moment. I don't need extra stress on here. I am doing what I think is the best for my dog. I think I will take a few days away from here and focus on myself and Stormy. I know she has went through alot the last day and she could some some cuddling and REST. So thank you everyone for your KIND wishes and thoughts. I will update again in a few days but this is too much for me with negative comments. |
I agree, you don't need all this extra stress or the judgeing. Please if you feel up to it pm me I really do care. My kids know about her little nose issue. I can't even tell them about this. |

You need to chill. All she's saying is that it looks like you'd be happy that your dog is alive and not dead. People do opt to put their dog down when money is an issue (you said it is). The vet gave good news that the illness was not unto death :) If I couldn't afford treatment I'd gladly give the dog a chance with the vet. |
It is really a very sad and horrible store for you and your baby stormy. I can understand your feelings in every way. I wish you and Stormy really the best and I think your needs you yet all the time. I hope that she will be healthy and can enjoy your heart again. I will keep Stormy and you in my prayers. lots of kindly greetings, Zorrolinchen |
OMG you people are horrible!!!....The first vet told her there was nothing he could do.....Obviously he LIED because his partner comes in and says I can fix her.....Now this partner decides that he will fix her, but only if he gets to keep her....Otherwise tough s***.........Never does he offer to help her or atleast recommend what treatment would benefit her so that she can take Stormy somewhere else possibly less expensive...The economy is bad and everyone is suffering from it so don't blame her for being concerned about money but this vet's office screwed up BADLY and they should not be praised or thanked....I never once got the impression that she would rather have Stormy put to sleep than let someone else have her or pay for treatment...I did however get the immediate impression that the second vet wanted a free yorkie and he knew that she needed minor treatment that he could handle since he wouldn't have to pay for labor.....and was only willing to help Stormy if he got to take her home.....I cannot believe you people would defend him or this practice.... |
