| Plan on breeding..need some help. First off let me start by saying i am educated on breeding a dog...just not a Yorkie. This will be my first litter on my own. I have assisted in Akita birth before. Akita are huge dogs so whelping with an Akita is different that whelping with a Yorkie. Im just wondering if theres anything in particular with Yorkies i should watch out for. Mom is 6lbs and Dad is 3lbs. Also is there a good books on breeding Yorkies or small dogs that i should get? Thank you have a nice day! And please no negative talk.

| There are several very helpful links with actual videos of live birthing on the internet. Just be sure you are prepared to have a puppy that only weighs ounces. I keep an ounce scale and weigh my new puppies 3 times per day to make sure all are getting adequate food. When first born they are not as large as a lighter! If you have any more questions feel free to call me Judy at 720-312-1364. I love to talk about whelping Yorkie puppies. It is divine. |

| A couple things that are specific to Yorkie pregnancy and whelping are a higher rate of hypocalcemia and a higher rate of c-sections than many other breeds.

| I just ordered this "must have" book off ebay, he has 10 copies left. The book sells for $29.95 at the stores, and it's $12.95 online with no s&h. Here's the item Dog Owners Home Veterinary Handbook 3rd Ed James Giffin - eBay (item 220301836763 end time Mar-25-09 18:52:36 PDT) here are a couple other websites Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies. | Just curious... I hope you find all your answers. I considered this awhile ago and after I researched it thoroughly. I changed my mind completely.
