So it's not just people with average to large size Yorkies that are criticized, I'm getting ALOT of critical remarks from people about Missy's small size. You just can't please everyone! What annoys me more is being criticized for dressing her up, doing her hair, and homecooking for her. I think that I'm just taking good care of her. All pets should be treated so well.
if i had the time and money(ima busy broke college student lol) id be homecooking for bailee, whenever i make chicken or something dog friendly i always leave out the seasons until i can pinch her a lil of it and my family thinks im crazy! i dnt get ppl how ppl dont understand. MY DOG IS MY BABY!

chelop555: Thank you, I thought the name Silvia fit pretty perfectly considering her color!

Yeah, I have also been asked all of the questions about "why would you want such a tiny dog?" and "well I don't know why you even got attached to her, she's not going to live long." I feel like asking them if they would give away or put down their child if they didn't turn out the way they wanted them; too short, wrong color hair or god-forbid handicapped. It just really burns me up when people ask me questions like this. I REALLY have to hold my tongue to keep from saying, "here hold my pocket-sized dog while I kick your a**!"

I just laugh at these people.........I met a lady at the vet's office the other day. I had Prissy, 7 lb poodle, and Jasmine, 1 lb 8 ounce yorkie, with me. She had a poodle with her. She opened the conversation with "My, your poodle is awfully big" and "Your yorkie is small now, but she will be alot bigger than my little one. I just had to laugh at her. I know she didn't appreciate this, but the constant, my dog is bigger, my dog is smaller..................really does crack me up. We loved Prissy when we got her and we love Jasmine and if Jasmine stays tiny, we will continue to love her and if Prissy all of a sudden put on weight we would still love her. My husband and I have both put on weight since we got married and we still love each other and neither one of us asked each other how much we weighed before we fell in love. People are just too funny. Laugh is takes less facial muscles and it is so much more pleasant! Love can't be weighed! Have a great day with your furbabies!!!!!!!!!!

He laughed at me and said they come in all sizes and as a matter of fact - the original Yorkies back in the 1800's weighed more like 15 pounds. I felt better and took my teapot out for another walk hoping to drop a tootsie roll on her lawn.

Thanks for that,I needed a good laugh.

I have 3 Yorkies of different sizes. Axl will be 1 at the end of May and is about 10 pounds, Yumi Yasha will be 1 at the end of May also and she is almost 5 pounds and then I have Jeter who is 19 months old and is 2 1/2 pounds.

For the most part I get people telling me how cute my Yorkies are when we have them out for walks, but I do get allot of people saying things about Jeter's small size and never about my Axl's bigger size, witch is kind of odd to me I have had a stranger ask me how much I would sell him to them for because they were looking for a small male to breed with their female Yorkie, I have had one lady at the PetCo say that he would not stay small for so long cause "when they turn 6 months they hit a growth spurt " This cracked me up because Jeter was well over a year old when she said this to me LOL! When I told her Jeter's age she came up with more negative things to say about him and ME for owning such a small dog. She even said I was most likely "taken" by Jeter's Breeder ( who she had no clue to who she even is) for a "TEACUP" I just walked away laughing at her and her nonsense!

I am new to being owned by a yorkie ....but I know when I was looking for my furbaby I looked at alot of breeds and size never was the issue for me. I wanted a baby that would have a beautiful pixie face, beautiful coat, and a beautiful personality and from all I was told and read yorkies won hands down. I have never been sorry and I dont care if laddy stays tiny as long as he is healthy or if he gets to be 20 pounds he is exactly what I wanted in my furbaby

It's funny - I guess size mattered to me but that's how I ended up being blessed with a Yorkie. I had a 15 year old Shih Tzu that passed away last fall. She was extremely small for a Shih Tzu. She weighed about 6-7 pounds healthy. When I started looking for a new puppy I realized that she was so small. I loved her size because she was so easy to travel with but I didn't want to buy from a breeder that was breeding outside the standard. I read something on-line that said if you really want one that small maybe you should look at a different breed. I had thought about a Yorkie in the past so that's what I started looking at. I wound up with Sadie and she is the light of my life. I think she's going to be about 4 to 4 1/2 pounds but at this point if she were 15 pounds I'd still love her just the same!

OH MY GOSH ... THAT IS HILLARIOUSSSS!!! ROFL seriously I'm on the floor. Someone called my dog big and I wanted to smack her. That's like calling someone's kid fat (even thou sadly as a student nurse working in the hospital ... there are soooo many overweight children it makes me sad ... but I would NEVER flat out tell some ... "damn your kid is fat") I mean there is a nice way to say things. Anyways my dog is actually visually small for a 10pounder. His fur does the puppy thing still :oof:: LOL

Thank you for the laugh.

That DRIVES me BANANAS!!! I mean seriously. And then they get offended when we are at Petsmart and I ask them to sanatize their hands (I had one lady tell me, she took a shower). ... What? Did she not touch anything since then? My little boy is only 13wks (1.8lbs) and not done with all his shots. Man she was lucky I let her hold him (after she used the anti-bac).

I don't have a problem when people ask me to pet my girls, and if is kids I always tell them to be gentle, but the other day I was with Melody in a store I was online in the register line, Melody was on a bag that I have she was just hanging there watching everything lol, when then I hear a little kid running; when I look down the kid had put his nose, on Melodys nose I ask him how do you know she is not going to bite youhis dad didn't say anything, then he try again but this time little Melo put her head inside the bag I cover her with my hand and move it away from him by that time the mother call the boy, she was kind of mad at me

::applause:: LOL Plus I feel like people make these assumptions that just because we have a dog, we are going to breed them. MAYBE they should look into how large the original breed was. 10lb was common way back when. It is that now a days we think that it is cute to carry our pups around like accessories (i'm COMPLETELy guilty of this) and smaller is more convenient for this.
