I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think they have to be at least 6 months, maybe older before this works. All pups eyes show up blue. Also you must be using a flash, it won't work without low level light in the room and using a flash. It won't work outside either. The flash is what causes the "eye shine." From looking at her coat, she looks like a silky coat to me, does she mat much? All pups seem to mat a little, but as they get closer to one, silky coats hardly ever mat, and cotton coats mat badly. She's a real cutie and reminds me of my Joey when he was younger.

| This is funny. I spent a whole evening chasing Ginger around taking pictures so I would be able to tell about her coat. I got nothing but a frustrated dog. LOL! I think I read on here somewhere that they have to be a certain age for this work. ????

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Did you use a flash without too much light in the room? It was like all of a sudden all Joey's pictures had the green eye glare.

| My puppy is 4 months old and I am starting to see green when I take his pictures. Although when I first got him, 3 weeks ago, all of his pictures had blue eyes. In one of the pictures, one of his eye is green and the other blue. lol. Does that mean he will have a silky coat or that he is too young yet to determine? Oh, and all of these pictures were taken on a camera phone. Maybe that makes a difference? PS: don't mind his ears, I had to shave it for it to stand up. |

| She looks like she'll be a silky...she's mighty cute http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ilky-coat.html I think it's w/out flash. My 12 week old pup had green eyes in her picture.

| I think if the eye shine test works at all, they WILL have the shine early on.My friend got her yorkie at 10 weeks and all her pics showed the green eye shine. While my boy didn't get the green eye shine until 6 mths and I believe him to be a modified coat.Still easier to care for than the cotton I am told.

I think if it's just one eye green it means silky coat. Sometimes both eyes don't show up because of the angle of the camera. I rarely get both eyes showing up green, but we do have a camera that has a double flash to eliminate eye flash. Remember much of this has to do with the camera you use, and the indoor lighting. This site has some interesting information on eye shine and coat type. Eye Shine
