In Petfinder, the following Yorkies are listed as lost in the MI area: Natalie (Remus, MI) Pepper (Saginaw, MI) Jazzy (Sterling Heights, MI) |
In the lostfoundpets site for Michigan: In Kalamazoo, a Yorkie female named Katie was lost 1-27-09 Lost in 49001 zip code Pet ID L31200 |
I have no idea if any of those names of lost female Yorkies will help but I can't sleep and thought I could at least try to do something productive. I'm sorry I don't know more about MI geography. I live in TN. I didn't feel comfortable in posting private info about the owners but I hope by giving you the site and the names of the Yorkies they have missing, you might at least have a starting point. When possible, I also included where they were lost and the date lost. Good luck to you in whatever you decide. I just can't clear my head of the thought that maybe someone is searching high and low for this Yorkie. Don't put much stock in my feeling though...I'm not known for my intuition...LOL Thank you for the comfort you gave this Yorkie. |

I am glad she found you BUT what if someone found Yoshi & rehomed across the country! JMO but I think you have to try & find the owners. They could be absolutely heart broken over their lost girl! My baby can play in a mudpuddle & look like a hot mess in 10 minutes (she is such a tomboy LOL) Please don't rehome her without checking around in your area! MOMMY TO PRECIOUS:aimeeyork |

I also live in michigan, my first thought was that I could make room for her in my home, but then I put myself into the shoes of someone who had lost their dog and I believe you should try to find an owner first. I know how badly my heart would ache if any of our dogs went missing. It would not subside for months, imagine all of the different scinerios you'de have to think of that could happen to a lost dog: death, got hurt, went to house that was mistreated etc... IF someone is looking for their dog they are probably so sick to death and the thought of not knowing what happened is almost worse than just being without your dog. If you cannot find anyinfo to follow to re-unite give me a p.m. and we can talk further, but I insist you try to find the original owners first, it would not feel right taking a dog who has people missing her that she is already bonded to. I agree that just a small amount of time would make a little house dog very dirty by the time you got her. I would also call the humane society etc, there are a lot of people (older people etc) that would not turn to the internet to poat lost ads.... The firts place an internet-free person would try is your local humame society etc. Like I said though, I would help w/ re-homing if need be. I will be travelling over to that side of the state two times in the next month. |
Also we are travelling to pennsylvania in another month and I read that Ericajm is interrested too, we could possible participate in a yorkie train to get her out there.... Wouldn't you feel so great to re-unite her with a fam. that has been looking for months and thinks she is long gone? |
so im dying to know what the op decided to do and if this sweet girl has been lost for some time, or just neglected/let go. Please update! |
When I first read the OP I thought the same as the rest of you about being lost or stolen. I've seen so many people on here spending day and night looking for their babies. It's possible that some poor family has been heartbroken and thinks they will never see their baby again. It's a hard call because if she has been plain neglected the last thing you want to do is give her back but if she's missed it's only right to figure out where she belongs. I'd have her micro-chip checked. If there is no chip then I'd rehome her. Good luck and God Bless for taking her in. |
Lost yorkie Please update with a picture. I know that if i lost one of my yorkies i would post on Yorkie talk and check every day, we are such a tight group and so spread out... |
This is an EXCELLENT - Yorkie Rescue in Michigan RetroDoggy Rescue,Michigan Yorkshire Terrier Rescue,Michigan Maltese Rescue PLEASE contact them. They will take her in and get her any medical care needed. I am apart of their Dog Liver Disease group and I have to say, that THIS rescue goes above and beyond! All dogs that come into their rescue get immediate Vet care and a BAT (Bile Acid Test) and the medical attention and well as the personal love and care put into each dog is truly amazing.... -Nicole |

If it were me, I would be doing the right thing and trying to find the owners. It would devastate me if one of mine escaped(as many yorkies have done) and it's been wandering around for awhile. I think the person that was looking trying to find people that have lost their yorkies was a good thing, and I would be doing everything I could to get this dog back with the owners |
Lost Dogs - Lost Yorkshire Terrier in Rockford MI - Fido FinderŪ Not sure if this dog has been posted. Name is Cooper-lost in Rockford in early March. doesn't specify if a boy or a girl. |

It is a type of passing the found/rescued Yorkie along a particular route helping get the dog from Point A to Point Z with exchanges along the way if needed. For instance, if a Yorkie in GA was going to IL, they may drive to the TN border, hand her off to the next driver, meet the next, and the next, until they reach the IL destination of the forever home for the pet. It's a beautiful example of people coming together to help someone and a Yorkie....just another demonstration of the love and concern Yorkie owners have for the breed and other owners. ...And a perfect picture of the best of the best in neighbor helping neighbor. |

This post so saddens me. Please OP. you need to do everything in your power to try to find the owners before you make an attempt to rehome this yorkie. Just because it has long nails does not mean it was neglected by it's owner. It could have gotten lost months ago and been living with someone other than the owner who did not get proper care. You cannot make that assumption that the owner neglected it. You need to put ads in the paper and check with the local shelters and vets to see if a yorkie has been reported missing in the last several months. If you cannot do that, then you need to turn it over to a no kill shelter to let them find it's owner. I would be so PI$$ED if someone rehomed my lost pet without trying everything they could to find the owners. Please update us OP. |

I agree with most of the others, PLEASE try to find the owners, there could be circumstances that we could not know and the owner might be completely heartbroken and still looking for their baby. My little ones can escape in a blink of an eye and be down the street before I even know they have escaped. Please update us when you get a chance. |
I would definitely have the Yorkie scanned for a chip and check out any lost articles that have been posted. From the lost Yorkies I've seen happen on this website, some of them seem to be gone for quite some time, which would explain why this Yorkie is a mess. I really think that I'm going to get Missy microchipped when she's spayed next week. All these lost/found Yorkies is really freaking me out! |
Out of all the homes around that little Yorkie found yours. This was for a reason. You could check the area and take her to the vet. And if no one claims her then I would do what Nichole- TLC said to do. That rescue in your area seems like they will check to make sure she gets the proper home. Believe me, Rescues check everything, its almost as hard adopting a child. You dont just want to offer this girl on YT without checking the families background. And that includes shot record, grooming, walks. Thats why I think rescue groups will handle this better than you or I. Good Luck on whatever you do and Congratulations for being picked by that little lost girl....Lissette |
Just checking in to see if the OP had checked into any of the suggestions made. Hope all is well |

checking back, i'm so curious about this little dog. |
I want to add that just looking for lost yorkie ads is NOT ENOUGH! The OP needs to place her OWN ads for a FOUND yorkie. If the OP is not willing to do everything possible to PROACTIVELY try to find her rightful owner, then the OP should turn this dog over to a shelter who WILL try to find it's owner. In my opinion it is not good enough to just look for someone elses ad looking for a yorkie. You need to place your own ad. |
