omg! the breeder did me wrong... or right? 2 Attachment(s) Okay, so I decided to go back and look at the pictures of Riley in the email the breeder sent me. Ya know, so I could see if she's changed since she's been with me and I noticed a major different in the picture of 'Riley' and the actual Riley... The puppy in the picture has floppy ears, while my Riley Bear has fully erect ears! Plus, I just know that isn't my Riley. So I think I might have supported a bad breeder (or whatever you want to call it) because now that I have more information on what a good respectable breeder is like, I realize how the breeder I got her from was the exact opposite. Although, I can't bring myself to be upset by it because now that I have my little Riley Bear, she means the world to me. So, the breeder did do me wrong by not giving me the puppy she showed me, but at the same time I'm happy she didn't because in my opinion Riley is much cuter than the picture she showed me (however my opinion is biased haha). What are you opinions on this breeder? Here are some pictures of Riley and supposed to be 'Riley': |
Well, like you say, you love your little Riley.......and what a cutie! |
puppies ears go up as they get older,it could be the same dog, whichever she is precious!! |

I thought that for a split second, but Riley had erect ears from the moment I got her. Plus the puppy in the picture looks older and a bit bigger then my Riley. |
I was going to say the same thing as Heather. Puppies ears are down when they are born and slowly go up as they age. Some never stand all the way up and will have floppy ears as adults. It could very well be the same puppy... Both pictures are adorable! |
Ears can go up overnight. I've looked at both pictures and they look like the same pup to me, it just looks like the one picture is darker which could make the pup look different |
They are both adorable but the difference I can see, other than the ears is, the black on the face. One has black on the nose and one has no black at all on the nose |
oh and i just noticed, the food bowl in the background of the first pic is the one my bailee has!i just love that bowl set!!! |
I think it is the same puppy. The puppy in the first picture is looking up so the ears would fall back and appear erect. Also, puppies ears can go up and down when they are teething. If you shaved your babies ears and taped them they most likely would stand up. She is adorable. I went back and read, I got the two pictures mixed up. Your Riley is the one with the ears up. So the pup with the ears down is probably the same dog but the ears had just not come up yet. |
Like I said, the picture puppy looks a bit older than Riley. Riley just now looks like she's getting there. Not to mention, Riley has (and always has had) a bit of white around her nose and mouth. The picture puppy, doesn't. |

I absolutely love that bowl set too! However, my fiance lost the bowls. |
i am no expert but i think it looks like the same adorable baby in both pictures :) riley is such a cutie!! |
4 Attachment(s) Some more pictures: Okay... so... the last one is a bit blurry and probably unnecessary but I thought it was cute... |
I think maybe Riley's color is breaking as she gets older. I really studied both pictures, and if they are not the same dog, they are strikingly similar. |
Look at the eyes. I think that is the same adorable Riley I am looking at in both pictures. |
I have to agree that I think they look like the same pup, adorable as can be |
My fiance and I keep staring at the pictures and looking at Riley and we see sooo many differences. For example: her hair. The picture puppy has the blonde/gold starting to grow in. Riley's blonde/gold JUST got that noticeable and it still isn't as noticeable as picture puppy. When we first got her, there was a tiny bit of blonde that was barley noticeable unless you were looking directly at the top of her head. I can't help but think that they look so similar is because picture puppy might have been in a previous litter. |
How old is she now? you can tape her ears up for three days.. give them a break and if they flop again tape them again for another few days.. I like to see a yorkie with their ears errect.. I sold a male almost two years ago.. the new mommy did not want ears taped.. last summer she came to see me and loves her baby but with ears down.. she gets comments that it is not a yorkie due to ears.. the other mommy taped the ears and the difference is very noticeable.. just a suggestion... anne |
From the pictures and their eyes and facial emotion, I do think that both pictures belong to the same pup. I don't think the breeder switched your pup. |
When we got Zeus his ears were straight up and then about a week later flopped down. They were down about a week and now they stand erect again! That sweet little face looks the same to me. |
Did you buy online???!!! When people you finally get it - never ever buy puppies online. No reputable breeder will send puppies - only so-called backyard breeders and puppy millers do it on regular basic. Puppies are not merchandise as TV or something like that. You have to see the parents, temperament of puppy, etc, etc, etc.... Your puppy is cute. But .... if you buy online - 90% you did support a not good breeder. Sorry. Don't believe me? Then educate yourself about puppy mill industry. Sorry. TRUE HURTS, I know..... However, a dog is not a "product" and professionals agree that buying a dog online is irresponsible, dangerous and contributes to the problem known as, "puppy mills." Puppy e-Mills Churn Out Sick Dogs, Big Profits |
Showing some pics of cute pup just as advertisement is typical online spam, same as showing pics of beautiful show quality dogs as parents (real parents are dirty, sick and live in horrible condition) Another spam of online pet store - showing pic of nice looking pup, if you click on "buy" bottom, the owners of online pet store/brokers just go to nearest puppy mill and find similar looking one and send it to you. I can tell much more secrets about online pet trade industry. |

What a cutie:D |
no, those are two different pups. just look closely: they not only have different ears, but also different color on face... sorry... |
but again: your baby is cutie. what I am trying to say is just true, although it is not pleasant to hear. good luck with your baby, but please don't buy pups online again. |
Looks like the same pup to me. Sometimes you can take two different pictures of the same pup and they will look different according to lighting etc.Pictures can also make the pup look bigger than what it really is. I think its the same pup. No matter which, it sure is cute! |
your free "puppy report." Free Puppy Report just contact them with providing information about the breeder, or just google: your breeder name... if you concern about that breeder |
(1) She never said she bought the puppy online. (2) Even if she did, she said that she's gotten more information here, which we all have. I knew not to buy from pet stores, but did not know about puppy mills until I joined this site. No need to berate her. |
Good Morning, I do see a slight difference with the face but Riley is well loved and thats all that matters..... |
