Seriously, I just don't get HOW people can buy puppies online or in pet store. I was child and knew already that this is wrong to buy LIVE THING without seeing it or trought third party. Just wrong. btw, no one told me about it. |
I am not here for arguments. Sorry, I have to repeat. As a person, who involve in puppy mill education and as person, who know many details/secrets about this industry, I just SURE that those, who believe in "good" breeders selling online, just a little bit naive. Sorry. |
Sorry for grammar mistakes. English is my second language. |

I would recommend you to learn what reputable breeder is and its code of ethic. I am glad that finally people start speak that shipping puppies is one of red flags of puppy mill industry. You can find articles online or even see TV. A couple years ago I opened a topic about this, but many people disagreed with me, but I knew I was right. Sorry, you are naive. Note, I don't use word "uneducated";). |
I can't tell, but either way Riely is a sweetie pie and her Cuteness gets better by the min! Even If its not the baby you picked you still got a winner! |
At first, I thought for sure that was the same puppy. But after looking at the pics more, I'm thinking maybe it isn't. I mean unless she's getting darker as she's growing? That just doesn't make sense. The puppy in the breeders photo is alot lighter coloured then Riley is now. The features look just ever so slightly different to me too. But I DEFINITELY don't think you got the bad end of the deal. Riley is so cute and I would be thrilled to have her if I were you. She's very pretty! :aimeeyork |
It looks like the same pup to me too. The settings/lighting of the 2 pictures are different and I think that accounts for any differences. If it's not the same pup, maybe the breeder got photos mixed up and sent a picture of it's litter mate? In any event, I think you got an adorable baby and maybe some things are just meant to be! :p |
I think it's the same puppy. I have pictures of Zoe from her breeder, then from when I got her and it looks like 2 different pups. But I know it's the same; she was the only girl in the litter. NO way to switch pups!! :) Also, I compare pictures of her that I took and I would swear it was 2 different pups if I didn't know better. And get this, now she seems to be changing colors again...at 1 1/2 years old. She was black as a pup, then blond/silver, and now her roots seem to be black again. In the end, all that matter is you love the baby you have! |
I went through your other posts re your puppy health issues and age she was shipped (too young for yorkie to be shipped, especially so small) and all those detailes just show the whole pics of your breeder. If you really concern about it, please report him/her to the web, I mentioned above, because there is no doubt about it - your cutie did come from a puppy mill. All those are SO typical for description of puppy mill puppy. I wish you the best with your new baby, she is cute as can be:thumbup:. PS: just an add re puppyfind.com. This website is very well known as NON reputable source to buy a puppy. Most of sellers there ARE BYB and puppy millers. I have known at least two stories when supposed to be reputable breeders were excluded from their official breed club only because they started to sell at puppyfind.com and ship puppies. Because it contradicts to code of ethic of reputable breeder. Period. |
I totally understand what you mean by a not so great breeder.I too was dissapointed in the breeder once we met her and her family/other dogs. Not that they were a puppy mill by any means, or bad people or a bad place. Just not as responsible and up and up as she could/should have been in my opinion. Our puppy is great, and we love him. When we arrived we were greeted by several pups, of a couple litters, running free around the house, which is great (and much better that a cage of coarse) but because of that there was poop in a few spots, and not only on the pads...and they whole place just stunk like dog....and they were all smokers so the combo was horrible! We also kept hearing discrepencies in stories told to us about accidental breedings, other puppies shes going to or is expecting, etc. She had another type of small dog there, pregnant and a few other rescued mutts outside. Then when it came time for paperwork we received the shot record which was covered with something on the back, and the contract/guarantee we signed was whited out on the signature lines, etc....and she didnt have the AKC papers ready, shes mailing them to us in about two weeks (she says). We ended up still taking the puppy as they all seemed healthy, it was a great bargain for us being he is a redleg, and we are only looking for a sweet pet for our family, so AKC (While a plus) wasnt essential for us. Our breeder is a YT member, and after getting puppy I have searched her name and seen some wierd posts too....go figure. Live and learn I guess. :( |
I know very responsible breeder who does not come to this board because of "too many backyard bredeers here" (quote) BTW, I cannot even imagine that she would ship any of her puppies - no way. |
I dont mean to sound rude but some of us are new to yorkies and we didnt know till we found this site anything about puppy mills. We bought our little guy from what we found out later was one but it doesnt mean we meant to support a puppy mill. The truth of the matter is I could not after seeing him stand the thought of leaving him in that place. I get really tired of people being so judgemental of those of us who didnt know any better. Now that we do I for one would never buy from one of those breeders again. That being said we have friends who raise champion Fox trotter horses and they even ship those. I dont see how you can lump all breeders who ship into your statement that they have to be a puppy mill. |
My baby came from a puppy mill that recently was finally shut down. Too bad - no one told me about puppy mill at that time. And more weird - I didn't see puppy mill info online for some reason (maybe 5 years ago weren't so much as now), because most information about puppy mills usually together with info about pet store puppies, and I tried to educate myself about yorkie breed. I knew that there are show breeders who try to improve breed and breeders that do it just for fun or maybe even for money somehow, but dog factories? no, i didn't know... As I said I would never ever buy puppy in pet store/online. I passed many breeders because I catched them on lie (just because I read a lot about yorkies and knew something). And finally I got from a pupy mill! How it could happen to me? I was not a regular buyer that knew nothing, I asked many professional questions and knew what I am looking for. Because..... I bought my dog from the cleanest house I have ever seen, I didn't see any dogs/crate/other bad signs. I was just victim of her fraud. This is how she spam people. Anyway, I did my private investigation on her, this is how I found about puppy mills. It complitely changed my mentality. I will never ever buy from ANY breeder. Do you know why? because now I know too many dirty secrets even from reputable breeders. I have had experience with internationally known show top breeders also. and AGAIN: shipping puppies is very bad sign. I explained already why. I love my baby Jessica all my heart, she is just my sunshine....Btw, recently I adopted another yorkie girl named Polly from this puppy mill raid. She is with us just for less than week. Please, please, please... don't ever buy puppies online. All those who are not agree with me, don't be in hurry for arguments - educate yourself first. Maybe those who ship puppies are not puppy mills, but definitely are not reputable breeders, who just do it for profit. Reputable breeders don't raise puppies for profit. Because reputable breeder will never sell yorkie to unknown person without interviewing him/her first. Because reputable breeder will not sell anyone who click on bottom "buy" because he/she has money. They try to find LOCAL customers and best approved home. This is why. |
Wow. I think I should have been just a bit more clear. My baby was NOT shipped to me. However, I did go and meet a friend of hers at a best buy. Which, I now know that is also a bad sign. Let me clarify one more time that Riley is my first small puppy. In fact, up until recently, I've never paid for a dog. I've always got them from friends and/or rescued them off the streets. So I never knew what BYB or puppy mills were. I just found out about them here on YT. So I'm am absolutely thankful for YT and learning about everything from you guys. Sorry for causing such a raucous. |
