I paid 750 for my female pup. I agree with the other posters. Be careful to work with a reputable breeder. I probably annoyed my breeder with fifty million questions, but I wanted to make sure I knew it was a good situation. |
$2000 is quite a high price, but if you are purchasing from a very reputable breeder with excellent quality stock, it will be worth it. Just becuase the dog is priced at 2000 doesn't mean it's a well-bred dog. Neither does it mean a reputable breeder. I've seen BYBs price their dogs higher. However, dogs that are well-bred from good bloodlines may be priced that high...but not always. AKC papers don't guarantee anything of quality...they only prove it purebred. even puppymills sell AKC registered dogs. |

I have been Showing and Breeding in my home for years. I agree a good home breeder is the best way to go when buying a pup. Never a pet shop. Kathy |
My first post - and it's about how much I spent! We just got our little girl Sadie in December. Our 15 year old Shih Tzu died in October. A week before she died we spent about $1,500 trying to save her knowing that it probably wasn't going to buy her much time. When we started looking for a Yorkie, I found a very good breeder that I wanted to use in Atlanta (about 4 hours away). Her females ranged from about $1,200 to $1,800 for a limited registration. Of course, the one that chose me was the $1,800 one. The "purchase" price is insignificant to me compared to the next 15 years of care and love we give each other. My husband kind of choked but he's really very good to me. :) I asked him recently if she was worth the money and he said she was easily worth ten times what we spent. |
I got my female from a breeder and paid 300. |

I paid $550.00 for Carlie from a reputable kennel here in Iowa. If I had bought her at 12 weeks (that is when this kennel will first let them go to their new home) she would have been $800.00. One of the good things about her age was we knew or had a good idea how big she would be (4lbs). Good luck :aimeeyork |
my grandmother can get a yorkie for $800 from a breeder in myrtle beach, sc. but i think that is a discounted price for her since they are long time friends. |
1200 but my bf got her for 1000 cause she was 3 months old already |
the rest of the money i bought her tons of toys and clothes lol |
I paid $2000 for Zoe but her dad is a champion so I think that makes a difference. |
I just purchased a yorkie and paid $2000.00. She is worth it. The breeder did a complete blood panel on all her babies and she has a 1 yr. health guarantee. She was 15 wks old and very healthy. Health is the utmost importance! Ask questions. Enjoy. |
As with any animal theres always the chance of problems and the price you pay won't change those a bit. You look until you find the one that steals your heart and that you feel very comfortable with the owner. I paid $1200 for my chocolate female, that included having her shipped to me, i couldn't have asked for a better girl! |
Chance was 800. You could also rescue. |
