That is absolutely ridiculous. I would be beyond pissed. |
That poor baby. I would be so upset. They should have been super apologetic and insisting to pay any related bills. Hope she heals fast. |
most important, i am happy your baby seems okay and was happily chewing on her treat...however you do NOT even want to know what i would have done if that was my baby  ... ooooh they would get an earful from me and i have never once sued anyone or even considered it in my lifetime, but i would be contacting someone about that...you handled it much better than i would have  |
I literally gasped when I saw that cut!!!:eek::eek: Even if you don't or can't sue. I think you should expose them by telling everyone you know what happened. Posting here on yorkietalk is a start! |
I'm so sorry for what happen to Bella that is so careless in there part and NO that is not a nick, AAhhh I'm trying not to be mad but what they did is horrible. I hope for Bella's speedy recovery. Also don't blame yourself you work two jobs that is hard work so big hugs to you. |
 omg.........that is not a little knick! I cannot even begin to believe that. Do not beat yourself up. This was not your fault. So the baby had a couple of mats, a professional would not have done that. Hell, I groom my babies myself and I am certainly no professional ....but I have never done that! I am just so glad that she is happy and back home with a caring mom. You take it easy tonight,,, you and your baby have had one heck of a day! |
I am so sorry this has happened to Bella, and glad that she doesn't seem to be in pain. As for that groomer, if it were one of my dogs, I would have gone ballistic! How dare they not even call you when it happened, to notify you that your pet needed medical care? I would have rushed right over. You did everything you could. Hugs to you and Bella. :aimeeyork |
Thanks guys!:) So pretty much, No i didnt pay, they ARE paying my vet bills, but their remorsefulness and their blame is all wrong. I have been thinking about this all day. So i finally came to the conclusion that I would email the owner, which is the person that grooms her. I pretty much told her that its good shes paying the vet bills, and i understand accidents happen, but i didnt appreciate the word "nick" and then seeing a horrible gash. I also didnt appreciate her blaming my bella for moving around. I told her that i know accidents happen, and nicks can happen, but a horrible gash like this is pure laziness or someone trying to rush the grooming process. I told her i expect nothing from her, but maybe to rethink and realize how important some peoples animals are to them Because for ME and a lot of people on this site, our babies are our LIFE! Would you put a gash like this in a child's head while their hair is being cut? I feel like they downsized the wound, and im furious i got no call BEFORE they took her to the vet. I will let u guys know what she says when and if she emails me back. Im not expecting much of a sorry though... |
awwww! poor baby, I hope you both are feeling better..Oh and i hope you give the groomer that vet bill:( |
i guess the vet and the groomer know each other so the vet is "billing" the groomer account.. I have to wonder if this is their first "accident" |
That's a heck of a "nick"! And you said the owner did this? She obviously works in the wrong line of business. Good thing, she's not running a barber shop! Unfortunately, if she's nicked a human customer like that there would be more serious consequences for her than just medical bills. Can't believe she had the guts to accept money from you.:thumbdown |
no no i didnt give her ANY money.. sorry i might have wrote it wrong earlier.. my boyfriend is actually the one that picked her up. NO way i would have let him pay .. they didnt even finish the cut. She is half cut right now. |
Well, I'm glad you didn't give her any money! I had a groomer that comes to your house in an RV and does it so I felt better that my little one (Not Noelle)wasn't far from me. Well, when they brought her to the door she looked perfect, lovely bow on her topnot. Well, a little while later, I noticed scabs coming from under the topnot, I took it out and sure enough, there was a large cut on her head! She never even mentioned she cut my dog! It was quite some time that I had noticed it since it was under a topnot and it could have gotten very infected if I had not checked to see what the problem was! But anyway, back to your situation, that's not a nick, and in my opinion it's inexcusable. Nicks I can kind of understand but gouges, no, sorry! They are supposed to be professional and that's why you take them there in the first place!! |
I am so sorry this happened to little Bella. I can only imagine how upset you must be !! I can't believe they called that a "nick" ! That is absolutely ridiculous ! They know better they just don't want to admit what they have done. ((Hugs)) to Bella :) |
Wow.. now i dont know who i should get to groom her. I will just have to keep looking!:) |
Hmmmm...I can't understand grooming at all. Are the owners not encouraged to stay or even permitted to stay? Understand, I don't know a thing about this...won't even get my Yorkie until April but I have inquired about groomers around here. I was told I could look through a window but not be in the room. (I can semi-understand this since generally there is more fuss when the owner is near, I suppose.) However, I want to know if the groomer is the only person in the room with the dog. Could there possibly be a witness to today's fiasco? The reason I'm interested if anyone else was there is that the very first thing that entered my mind when I saw that cut was I wonder if the groomer was talking on a cell phone. It has gotten to the point that cell phones have taken over the life of our society. (Of course, I don't have a clue but I did wonder that immediately.) How many stitches did she have to get? Also, who actually took her to the vet? The owner/groomer? If so, why didn't she stay to see that your dog was okay? Also, why did she not either wait at the vet's to talk to you or meet you back at her shop with the dog? If it was enough of an emergency that she had to be taken immediately, you should not only have heard from the owner that they were on their way to the vet but (in my opinion) the vet's office should have had your permission to intervene unless he is your usual vet. What if your pet was allergic to whatever topical treatment they used to numb or clean it? I am rather shocked to hear that someone can walk in with your pet and have medical treatment done to her without at least your verbal permission! Somehow this just doesn't ring true to me as the best protocol unless it was a life and death emergency and you could not be reached. Do groomers have you sign some kind of waiver giving them the right to seek treatment for your pet in the event of injury? I know one thing I'd want to know from the vet she used...how often does she bring in injured dogs? Wow, I'm just dumbfounded over this. I can't even imagine taking someone's stuffed animal to be sewn up before first talking to the owner of the toy. It seems to me that the groomer put the vet in some gray area of legal treatment without an owner's permission. Just my two cents worth... |
well the way the room is set up, it is one big room so i have to imagine there were other people there? Its very hard to say, they have not been very truthful and forthcoming so i dont believe they would tell me the truth. All i know is maybe she was watching TV, (cause there is a tv in there) or she was in a HURRY- but someone that is being careful and taking their time does not do such a thing. I think that is what im most upset about. Someone was careless with my BABY! To some people dogs are just dogs, but its so frustating that because this is a "pet" and not a child its not as big of a deal. However to me it is, so im still stuck at a crossroad on what to do about this. I think im just gonna take it as a life lesson to not be so trusting of who i leave bella with. |
and yes it is hard for me to believe they gave MY pet medical care without my permission... the whole story is very strange. The cell phone idea is very possible though. |
i would be pissed!!!that is freaking huge! i cant even imagine how that would happen!!!i hope she is ok... |

We had similar things happened to my girl. The grooming service is offered at the vet, and after the groomer had nicked my girl, she decided to get her stitched up WITHOUT even telling me a thing! I was soooo mad and took all the steps to get her fired! |
