The one thing that really amazes me about Tootsy is that she can tell the time. She knows when it is her walk time exactly. She will run to me and look up at me with her little ears upright and whine" It is time for our walk Mom. Soo cute. I can also explain that I have to go somewhere else first, but we will go for a walk afterwards. I say this a few times and then she understands! She runs to the window and sits there and waits for me to get back. She is such a patient little dog. Also at night she likes to go to bed early with the light off and no noise - not even whispering (she will growl at you to shush!) She will come to the computer and look at me and bark - it is time for be Mom NOW! Then she rushes to find my husband and does the same thing! I could go on and on. They are so adorable, aren't they? |
I have always said there isn't anything wrong with having beauty & brains, Kandi can't help it she has both! (so does Gizmo, don't tell him I said he was beautiful). :D |
Judy, that is incredible and should go into a book of short stories about incredible Yorkies. Thank you for sharing..... |
I can't believe how smart these guys are either. We were walking Daisy in the park one day and she walked over to a bush and pawed at it and would not leave it. My husband pulled the bushes apart and there was a tiny kitten in there shaking and scared to death. We took the little kitty to a shelter and praised Daisy for being so smart and saving the little kitty. In the same week we went to Branson, MO and while we were walking the babies, we came across a frantic couple running around looking for their cat who jumped out of their car window while they were driving down the street. I told them that maybe Daisy can help out since she had just found a kitten a couple of day ago. I told Daisy to "find the kitty" and I kid you not, she walked over to some bushes and started smelling them. She was clawing at the bushes and trying to go into the bushes. My hubby parted the bushes and there was their cat. None of us could believe that she found their cat just like that. As unbelievable as this sounds, it is true. We were so proud of our little girl saving two kitties all in one week. We were totally amazed. I know she understands a lot more of what we say than we realize. |
My husband was taking Tiki for a "walk" around the parking lot at one of our Fred Meyer stores while I was getting my nails done. He said she kept going back to the same bush so finally he took a look and he found - not a kitty - but some drug paraphenalia. I guess Tiki could be a drug sniffing Yorkie. She sees a kitty, she chases it away and does this strange little bark with almost a throaty howl. Same thing when she chases squirrels and when she sees deer across the street. She does not like cats and we don't even say the word(we spell). If you make a hissing cat sound, she starts the bark- howl. Too funny, these kids. Myrna - aka as Tiki's Mom |

Sadie is smart, but stubborn. My mom and I will play Scrabble, and when we do, she needs to go to my dad. Ill tell her "you need to go lay down with Papa". She will run down the hall towards his room, stop, and look at me with her head held up high. She looks like "who are you to tell me what to do", But then I tell her "go!" she will run and lay down next to my dad. She is so cute! But.........she will NOT come when she is called if she is outside. She is in training school, and hopefully that will change! |
! My Shelby Rae watches tv all the time and she knows her commercials...I never realized how many commercials had animals on them....she can be dead asleep and she hears the beginning of a particular commercial and she goes to the end of the bed or the couch depending on where we are and watches tv till the dog or animal comes on and then she barks like crazy at them...I think she is trying to keep them from coming into our house lol I know I shouldn't let her do all that barking but it is sooo cute the way her little hiney wiggles when she barks at the tv...She also seems to know when it is 5pm for her dinner and then at 9 for treat time...she comes and sits at my feet and stares at me....oh yeah she also tattles....she will take her chew bone and lay it right in front of tigger our golden retriever mix and then come over to me sit at my feet and stare at me till i say...What's the matter baby girl? then she looks over at tigger and back at me over and over till I realize he has her bone ... then she follows me over to get it back from him...she's a mess and all stories are so cute...I happen to think my yorkie is smarter than a lot of people I know!!! I love this group:) |

If I may say my Mia Bella is a treat to have--- She is 3 months old and she already knows how to sit, stay, lay, shake paw, high five, and now I'm currently teaching her how to play dead and how to smile..hahhahahah It took patience and consistency but most of all I owe it to Bil Jac liver treats. Wow she loves those things and would try to do the tricks I teach her to have her treat. I tried cheese strings but she ignored those. *One proud mama* |

I knew Yorkies were smart, but My little 4 Month old Tucker has a toe fetish, especially wet toes. As soon as he hears me turn the shower off, he comes running. Wehave a glass door in th e shower. I can see him standing and waiting. This has changed my whole routine,. I used to dry off completely before getting out, but now I make sure my toes are soaking wet. Tucker's Mom |
