| Appalled by what I saw today! We were driving to the bank... and we saw a woman on the side of the road with a exercise pen on the grass and a sign that said "Yorkies for sale". I told hubby OMG we must stop and talk to her. I told hubby lets "play dumb" and see what the situation is. Well we get out of the car and two other women are talking to her, we notice there are four Yorkies in the pen. Two are older and two are younger. She said "Are you interested in a Yorkie" and I told her I love dogs and was curious why she was on the side of the road with Yorkies? She said she had an ad in the newspaper and just not getting response from it. She has two litters one is 8 months old and the other sixteen weeks both are " AKA" registered (not sure what that is). She wanted $1500 per female and $999 per male (I was surprised of the price). She also said she was about an hour drive away and wanted to "try" a new area. She did not want to ship her puppies and was not computer savvy. As we were getting into our car she asked if we were interested in her female and she could cut the price because she just needs to "move the dogs". I felt sad about leaving the puppies and they were subject to anyone who stopped. OMG! Is this the "sign of the bad times"? I just feel so sad for the puppies and just wanted to get home to my three furbabies. I can not stop thinking about them and just hope they find good homes. Any thoughts?

| That is a horrible story! She is a BYB who has got in over her head. She needs to stop breeding her dogs. This type of thing will happen more and more as the economy continues to struggle. Now what is she going to do with all of those unwanted puppies? My question would be more like when she couldn't sell the 8 month old puppies why she allowed another litter to be born? Sick and irresponsible.

| when i picked up one of my babies from her breeder, we each drove halfway and we met outside a tractor supply store...there was this older couple with about 10 dogs chained together on a long chain...well i got there before steph (the breeder) and watched them...in a time span of 20 minutes, these people had sold 5 dogs!!! my heart broke for these poor dogs as they were all laying on the cement and looked so sad the worst part was, about the time i left, someone had driven up in a truck with a trailer attached and i think they were going to unload more dogs to sell

It just makes me sick how the byb's have exploited Yorkies because of their popularity. | |

| how horrid. I guess anything is possible in this world. I think there definitely needs to be more responsible breeders putting out limited registrations to help prevent all these dogs being freely bred by so many uneducated people

| This also makes me wonder if some of these pups were stolen. It's amazing what some people will do for a buck. Such sad stories, makes you wanta hold your babies and never put them down.

| The inhumanity of humans never ceases to amaze me. We recently adopted our new baby from a breeder here on YT. He is a wonderful healthy boy, who was loved and taken care of. I would never consider buying from someone who did not have references and who I did not speak with to find out what kind of human they were. If people would just stop buying from these road-side breeders, then there would not be a problem in our rescues. |
