| New to Yorkie Talk Hi everyone, I am new to YorkieTalk and would like to get to know everyone. I have a 10-1/2 year old Yorkie, named Jasper, who is my canine soulmate. I used to have "the three amigos" as I called them. By that I mean I had three wonderful dogs - a Norfolk terrier, a shih tzu, and, of course, my darling Jasper. Last May I lost the Norfolk terrier and my beautiful shih tzu within four days of each other. The Norfolk was 10 and he had a heart condition, and the shih tzu was only 4 and he was stricken down so fast it stunned me with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. When they passed, I lost 2/3 of my family. I am still grieving and if anything happened to my Yorkie, I would lose my mind. I will never approach the end of May without great trepidation and sadness. All I can say is that I want to meet them at the Rainbow Bridge and if there are no dogs in heaven, then I don't want to go there. Thank you all for listening to my sad tale. Garcy |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Welcome to Yorkietalk, I think most of us know a little of what you feel. Sometimes, it's so hard to even get a pet, knowing that you are setting yourself up for such grief when you lose it, but we could never know the love that they give, if we protect ourselves too much. I agree; it can't be heaven without these wonderful little spirits around.

| Thank you all for the warm welcome, and, yes, I will be glad to post pics of Jasper as soon as I can figure out how to do it. I think I can figure it out and use my daughter's digital cameral to get photos on my computer and from there to YorkieTalk. You all have such beautiful furbabies and we are going to add to our family in June, I hope when my daughter comes home from college from the summer. She misses our beloved ones and wants to be around for the "new" arrival. Right now we are saving our pennies because the economy is so bad, but I think we can manage for something special that we all (husband, daughters, & myself) miss so much. We are going to get another shih tzu pup as I am in love with the breed as well as Yorkies. I would never want to live without the love that either breed gives. Yorkies have to be the most loyal dogs in the world! Shih tzus are like little people with four legs. Anyway, I am starting my search for a good, responsible, breeder who knows what they are doing. There are so many terrible places selling terrible examples of breeds especially the toys all because they are after money, it's horrible and should be stopped and the offenders dealt with very harshly! Don't get me started on that GRRR! Anyway, thanks for the replies and I'll be checking in again soon. Garcy |

| Garcy, Welcome to YT - don't worry about the comments you have about irresponsible breeders - we are right there with you! You will find that it is a frequent topic of conversation around here. I am so sorry for your loss. Your story brought tears to my eyes - I can not imagine how hard it was to loose two of your closest friends and loves within 4 days of each other. The hardest thing about opening our hearts to these little bundles of fur is that they do not get to live as long as us. It sounds like your 2 experienced tremendous amounts of love and care in your family. So glad to have you here with us.

| Thanks again for the understanding. Only other dog moms and dads can know what it is like to lose the love of a pet. A lot of people say (and think) "it was just a dog". But then, I have a bumper sticker that reads "the more I am in the company of people, the more I appreciate my dog!" That pretty much sums it up for me. I was at the Western Reserve Kennel Club show in Cleveland at the holidays and I saw a T-shirt that read "Some people should not breed". I tend to agree with that. I always find that when I meet new people, interestingly, the people who are dog parents are the ones I am most drawn to and stay friends with. Glad to be among YorkieTalk folks and I am going to try and get pics of my Jasper up by next week. Garcy |
