| Re-registering with CKC So I'm in the process of re-registering my dog with the CKC- it's been done but when we gave Cam to my sister to keep for a year she registered her under HER name So, I'm putting her back in my name. Now, how do I know if Cam has a Pedigree? (I'm assuming that's what PED stands for?) She is purebred, I have the paperwork from the breeder with the Sire and Dame's CKC registration numbers... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! If it's the Continental Kennel Club, I wouldn't bother; they aren't really a legitimate registry, and only say that the puppy came from two purebred dogs. They will even register mixes. Quote:

It's the Continental Kennel Club... So having her registered there doesn't really mean anything? I'm sort of concerned about it being in my sisters name and not mine, I don't think anything "bad" would ever happen, but just in case I want it known she's MINE, know what I mean? Still think it's no biggie? | |

Doesn't your state have a licensing board; she should be licensed in your name. That is proof of ownership, and I think that's what you want. For the CKC, you can just send in a picture of a dog, say he's a Yorkie, and they will register him, it really isn't "proof" of anything.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I pretty sure CA has strict licensing requirement, I know they did when I lived there, your vet can give you the number, but you usually need proof of rabies vaccine, as well as proof of neutering or spaying to get the discount. Fines for not being licensed are going up in many states.
