A Pets Ten Commandments

I came across this when I lost my precious little Kayla last July and find it very meaninful. I wanted to share it with all of you. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any
separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my
well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me
up as punishment. You have your work, your friends,
your entertainments, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words,
I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never
forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember
that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to
bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or
uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be
bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right
food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart
might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too,
will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me
please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't
make me face this alone. Everything is easier
for me if you are there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy
and take good care of them. Life would be a much
duller, less joyful experience without God's critters~

This is true. they are there for us unconditionally. What ever did we do without them in our lives? They are truly very precious little creatures. love them too death. They are always there to welcome us with their cute little tails wagging furiously. Can't live without them.

ohhh wow it's make my eyes watering, i just got my little baby "Kobe" one week ago but i already love him to death, i cant imagine what would i do if something happen to him, thank you for sharing

I've seen several versions of this, but the most touching is their
ability to be loyal and loving to us. Doesn't matter what happens
they're there of each of us. Only divine influence would make
them that way. No wonder they hold such a special place
in each of our hearts.

I agree. I once heard Oprah say a dog's love is the greatest example of God's love for us.

I read an expanded version of this on another forum, and thought
it wold be appropriate to share that with you here. I don't know
why, I just love to read/share things like this.

The Ten Commandments for Pet Owners (by moosmom)

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.

Do not break my spirit with your temper, though I will always forgive you.
Your patience and understanding will teach me more quickly those things you want me to learn.

3. Have me spayed or neutered.

4. Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world
is more grateful for your kindness than mine.
Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment.
After all, you have your job, your friends, your entertainment.
I have only you.

5. Speak to me often. Even if I don't understand all your words,
I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
Your voice is the sweetest sound I ever hear, as you must know by my
enthusiastic excitement when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

6. Please take me inside when it's cold and wet.
I'm a domestic animal and am no longer accustomed to the bitter elements.
I ask for little more than your gentle hands petting me.
Keep my bowl filled with clean water; I cannot tell you when I'm thirsty.
Feed me good food so that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding,
to be by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to share with you my life,
for that is what I live for.
However you treat me, I'll never forget it.

7. Don't hit me.
Remember, I have teeth that could easily crush the bones
in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative,
ask yourself if something might be bothering me.
Perhaps I am not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long,
or my heart may be getting old and weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old.
You will grow old too.

10. When I am very old, when I no longer enjoy good health,
please do not make heroic efforts to keep me going.
I am not having fun.
Just see to it that my trusting life is taken gently.
And be with me on that difficult journey when it is time to say goodbye.
Never say, "I can't bear to watch".
Everything is easier for me when you are there.
I will leave this earth knowing with my last breath that my fate was always safest in your hands.
