| My spayed yorkie girl is "humping"! Hey guys, My baby Cookie is about 15 months old and she has been spayed since she was 7 months old. Just the other day, I noticed she has learnt how to "hump" her toy! She was going quite hard on it and today she did it again numerous times. Is this normal for a spayed female dog to be doing this? I don't know where it came from and I'm wondering if I should just let her be because perhaps it's normal or should I be stopping this behaviour? She is also potty trained but for the last few days she's been peeing and pooing around the house at least 3 times a day which is not normal. I don't know if this is associated in any way with the "humping" behaviour. Please help! Any advice and suggestions would be great. Thanks! Tammy |

| hmm... Fiona is almost a year old, and was spayed at 7 months old and has NEVER humped! Perhaps, she is going through " the terrible twos?" If it all of a sudden just came on, i would maybe just ignore it, and don't pay attention to it. that is odd that she is making in the house if she is potty trained as well. I guess , I don't really have an answer , but i would tell you to maybe just brush it off, and maybe she will just stop, since you wont give her attention from it!? good luck......

| Zoeybear was spayed at about 6 mo. She started humping "Humpy Humperton" , a baby faced rabbit, a few weeks before she was spayed. Spaying didn't slow her down one bit. She humps "HH" a couple of times a week. We don't stop her because we were afraid if she didnt have "HH" she might hump our other girls.Good luck!

| It is normal, and it's a way of showing dominance. Some people choose to ignore it, others don't allow it. Missy does it very occasionally. I can distract her quite easily and she will stop.

| Thank you! I just wanted to make sure that it was normal because I was afraid that if I didn't stop her, she'd start humping my other 7 year old female dog or perhaps even people haha! |

| It's a dominance behaviour. My spayed female Maltese started doing it a year or so after she was spayed. Being a man, my husband found it amusing, but when she started showing other dominance behaviours...like ignoring the rules (potty training is one of the rules) and getting more aggressive in her play (she actually hurt Nash and he had to have stitches above his eye), he was finally convinced to stop treating it as an amusing behaviour and help me stop her. Occasionally Candy will raise up and put her front paws on Nash's back, but then she stops and looks around...she knows that is not allowed! It took several months for her training to reassert. So, if your baby girl is humping AND her discipline is breaking down, I suggest she not be allowed to continue. It is dominance behaviour and she's trying to tell you that SHE is in command, not you!

| Thank you, that helps me out alot. Because it wasn't until recent when she started going to the bathroom all over the house now. She is normally really good at holding it in until we let her outside. This probably explains her behaviour with the humping lately. I will definitely be keeping an eye out on her! Thanks for the advice =) |
