I have a friend whos Italian Grayhound got out and they had a prank phone call like that. The same girl called back after she heard there was a reward. My friend didnt ask question just where can we meet you. They met and got there Dog back wrote them a check and they cashed it that same day. His dog was missing for about 2 weeks. Put up reward flyers. He thinks they were going to sell there dog on craigs list. |
He went to every spca, pound, vets within 10 mile radious and put up flyers everywhere. |

No you expect someone to call with info on your pet, not a prank. I would have told the PD I expected them to follow up the call with a visit to see if my dog was actually there. Who's to say it's not? If it is you get him back, if not her parents are notified of her making prank calls to someone who already has a serious issue to deal with. It's not right for their daughter to make light of it. |
It seems so strange that some hasn't' found him yet. I'm only guessing he's friendly and would approach someone if he couldn't find his home. How far away from you does this girl live? If it's in the general vicinity I would think it's definitely plausible she could have him. I would go back to the police and this time say you strongly believe she has him. That way they would be required to follow up on your complaint. Since this girl is the only lead you have - - I'm praying for you it's the answer you're searching for. |
I would wait till dark, then go to that house and ring the bell or knock hard just to see if you hear your dog bark. Then just let them know you wanted to know if they knew something about your missing dog. I'd go house to house in fact, each and every night just to see if you may hear him bark, and maybe bark when he hears your voice. This is getting really bad now. Sometimes people are out stealing dogs just for the reward money, but it seems this is not the case here. Someone just wanted to keep him. So sad. |
Has anyone had experience with pet detectives? I had no idea such a thing existed, but apparently there are both professionals and volunteers. xxmxaxrxyxx, is this something you would consider? |

Maybe if they'd get off their fat asses and stop frequenting the friggen doughnut shops there wouldn't BE so much crime and so many unethical people in the world. Don't get me wrong, my husband is a cop, but he's a GOOD cop, not a useless one. I'm really sorry you had to deal with something like that, Mary. That makes me REALLY angry! The police are here to help, not here to hinder. |
I will light another candle and keep praying that Yoshi finds his way home to you soon. |
I lit a candle a long time ago for someone else...I can't figure out how to do it again??? My brain is jelly tonight. |

Oh well I just lit a candle............I was hoping for some great news this morning. |
I relit my candle for Yoshi's safe return home! |
What about going to the back to the Police and filing a "Theft or Stolen" report. He does a dollar value. I know here in Florida, if something is stolen and they have a lead to where it might be, or who might be involved, they will follow up on it. <>< |
but he wasn't stolen, he was lost. I'm still praying he will be found and that the person that sees him and takes him in tries to look for the owner. |

Something that has been lost can never be stolen, it can be kept but that is all. Alot do not make the effort to find an owner. I see ads in the paper every day with people who do the right thing and try to find the owner under "Dog's Found" I pray this is what will happen. YT prayers are very strong, when hundreds are praying at once it just has to be noticed. |

Mary, Have you thought of using MySpace? I had a dog (pit bull) that was lost for 3 months and we just got her back about a week ago FROM MYSPACE believe it or not. MySpace can be a very powerful tool when used correctly. A Pit Bull is a COMMON BREED but this dog was a $3000 dog and had a Mole marking on the side of her face that could not be refuted. A lot of people around here knew she was missing and got to know her and wanted to HELP BRING HER HOME!! I sent bulletins out and other things periodically on MySpace to keep the search going. Now these people were not out searching but they were aware of what she looked like and I got a lot of dead leads or misidentities. BUT EVENTUALLY IT PAID OFF AND SHE CAME HOME! She came home different but it only took about 5 days for her to get back to her old self. I don't know what she went through those 3 months but I know she came home and that's what matters. Here is what we did: and I hope this helps you! We had lots of people looking for her and a lot of people who knew who she was.. I had a MySpace for her to bring her home! I added all of my friends from my city from my personal MySpace plus a lot of other random people. I sent out bulletins with her photos and asked others to pass the message to their friends. WHO CAN RESIST PASSING YOSHIS MESSAGE? I know I Wouldn't!!! One day 3 months later... I got a text with a photo asking if this was my dog? WE WERE LIKE YES THAT IS HER!!! WHERE IS SHE???? The person said that a person on MySpace had her as a DEFAULT PIC.. we then got the URL to their MySpace, searched it for a phone number .. put that phone number into google to get a name or address and luckily we did! We called the guy, went to his house and GOT OUR BABYGIRL BACK!!! It is time consuming YES and it is a lot of work.. but I know your heart is aching and MySpace can reach hundreds in hours. Please consider this. |
